    Default Ultimate Spider-Man 106

So Ultimate Spider-Man 106 is to me another strong issue ever since Clone Saga Bendis has found a second wind and this being Bagely's last arc it looks like it will be as explosive as ever. Let me give you the low down on what happened.

    Spoilers Ahoy!

This issue begins with Damage Control working on Peter's house having been hired by Nick Fury to repair the damage. Peter gets his stuff but still hasn’t told Kitty Pyrde that it's over though he still doesn’t know that she saw him kissing Mary Jane. Next we cut to Aunt may in hospital where she and MJ try to talk about both knowing Peter is Spider-Man when they are interrupted by a news report saying that due to recent events including Nick Fury's comments about Spider-Man he is more popular then ever!

Wilson Fisk is being shown the report at the very same time curious was to why his stockholders are tormenting him. It transpires that one of the companies Fisk brought holds the rights to Spider-Man's likeness stretching back to his wrestling days which intrigues him and he orders it to be run into the ground by making as much money as they can.

Spidey web slings MJ to the Baxter building to have some tests and there's some peter Johnny banter before Peter leaves her to have some tests and goes to work where he's been fired. (A nice reference to "The Pegasus Project" of old 616 fame and also referenced in Ultimate Power) is made by urich who mentions it as a top story. Peter manages to keep his job since his aunt (who it seems JJJ might have a soft sport for) had a heart attack and also gives peter a raise to ensure she stays alright.

On his way out Fisk is shown a new costumed assassin (anyone tell me if that’s suppose to be a tribute to anyone?) who states "I kill people" when forced on the subject he is rumbled and is revealed to be Shang-Chi who fights off several guards before Kingpin throws him into a car and the guards shoot at him. Barely escaping he flees to the roof where Daredevil intervenes and saves his life and offers Chi membership to his little group.

Peter returns to pick up MJ and they talk about the Nightmares she's been having. The FF try to cheer her up by talking about there experiences but its clear the whole kaine thing has affected her in more ways then one. Cut to midtown high where Matt Murdoch who has been standing by the entrance stops peter and reveals that he is Daredevil and simply by listening to the kid's voices he was able to confirm that he was Spider-Ma. Matt tells peter in no uncertain terms that he needs to see him tonight on top of St. Patrick's cathedral and it is a good thing to because there going to kill the Kingpin.

Cut to in class where we meet Jessica Jones who’s a senior at midtown and head of the student press. (Yes it's a cameo unless she's got some future role to play) MJ and Peter pass notes about Daredevil and Kitty Pyrde and now telling her and how it would only get worse...and yes folks it does at that very moment a new student is introduced to Midtown High Miss Kitty Pyrde!

So all in all a good issue it seems that with Deadpool, Vampires etc Spidey lost track of what it was trying to do but this arc puts it back on track post Clone Saga. With a nice mix of story and characterization. Also we see Spidey move from this loner personna that he had of doing things "his" way to talking to The Fantastic Four and Daredevil. It seems to me like we're seeing the birth of the Ultimate Superhero Community with this issue somthing I personally will look forward too.

i'm suprised there aren't more posts. i guess people were scared away by clone saga. i am glad i wasn't. this issue had many of the elements missing from the last year's arcs, such as peter constantly juggling his home life, work, school, and girlfriend as peter parker. when peter asked jameson for a raise, i was almost afraid to turn the page and see JJ explode until i remembered that ultimate jameson is a total softie compared to his other versions i'm glad he's back.

Some of my favorite moments in usm are when villians use ludicrus tactics to beat their opponents, such as doc ock calling a press conference way back. i wonder how far kingpin will carry out his plan of running spider-man's name into the ground?

Peter and MJ visiting the Fantastic Four was a nice touch. I doubt we'll see them again in this arc, but we'll see them in the next one, when MJ's 'cure' inevetably fails. (come on, do you really believe the cure is going to stick?)

daredevil, or rather matt murdock, was a bit of an oddity. he showed up at peter's school to advance the plot of course. daredevil's own comment about spider-man seems to justify him NOT recruiting peter in his crusade to kill the kingpin. his crusade also does not make sense considering he went to great legnths to try and persuade the punisher to stop killing dirty cops. he, and i mean Bendis, had better have a good justification for this in the next issue.

last, because it was on the last page, is kitty. did you really think it would be that easy to get rid of the stray cat? i imagine peter will be very willing to help daredevil's crusade after getting an earful from his two love interests.

all in all, it was a good issue. it felt like an earlier issue because it touched on all the elements of peter's life that have been practically absent for two years. the book had only one, passable action sequence, which was acceptable because this issue was still dealing with the fallout from the last issue (i think that excuse will be used a lot for the upcoming reviews). the art was good, except sue storm still looks like gwen. i'd give it a slightly generous 8/10. now, when's the next issue come out?

I can't image why anyone would want to drop the book after this issue. The book's supporting cast is stronger than ever now, and I just really feel like reading more stories with these people.

And I love how crazy ultimate DD is, telling he's gonna kill the Kingpin to a kid in public. :D

There's a full page zoom of Kitty witnessing the kiss, just before the scene where MJ sees Kaine in the mirror.

Good issue. I'm glad that kitty left the X-men and is now in USM. She was one of the best things to happen in this book and it looks like she is going to be an even bigger part. I hope they touch on Professor X death some what next issue.

Heh thing is people are just a bunch of annoying fanboy's who happen to be bendis haters. Some, don't like this book, cause it's not thier cub of tea or Gwen stacy dying (only part that pissed me off out of the series) but rest just Hate bendis.

I really loved this issue. It's the number one book I always read out of my pull and the number one I look foward to most.

I lol when one of the wrecking crew, the black guy said "hey babe" to MJ and she was quick to say "I'm 15" and it just went into silence right then and him whisling. That had me laughing. Loved the character interactions (hell even deadpool had fun character interaction) really found it funny that Spider-man became the most popular hero all of a sudden. Bugle, everything.

You guys do realize that Jessica Jones, just made an ultimate appearance right? She's the student who was babbling about her being a senior and needing people to help the school's TV program. I really liked the Kitty Pride bit at the end. I like her as a fun supporting cast of spider-man and I'll be seeing alot of fun teen interactions between Kitty and MJ along with Pete. Also if she tries to flirt with Pete, Kong will have his suspicions of Peter being spidey again lol.

All around good issue and I hope Bendis never leaves this book.

At the end of the last annual, Daredevil and Punisher both saw Peter grow up a little when DeWolf died. And it would make sense that DD would want to mentor spider-man into becomeing a good superhero rather than let him mess up.

Finally, an issue that makes sense from front to back! This is what I've been wanting for months!

This is definitely an improvement on several months prior. It isn't a great issue, but it's good enough that I might stick around a bit longer. If the rest of the arc is at least as good as this issue, I might stay after Bagley leaves.

A few problems: Shang-Chi treated like an amateur? Someone else learning Peter's identity? Is this Kitty thing coordinated with Ultimate X? (I know Kitty left the mansion, but I thought she was going home.)

Other than those, a solid issue.

He is an amateur. He's a great fighter, not an actor or a spy. He came up with a plan to get him to the Kingpin (which worked), he just failed to pull it off convincingly.
    Slayven ftw.

Who was Shang-Chi suppose to be impersonating was it suppose to be anyone in particular or a random costume? I get the impression Bendis would'nt just make a new costume he'd use someone as a joke.

Also Jessica Jones! finally makes her apperance, and then we get Ronin later in this arc it's like Bagely's getting everything in one final send off!

Or it could be that there have been some genuinely weak issues over the last year or two.

This isn't one of them. Perfect issue for this series. Finally, the teen drama returns. Some very nice Jameson moments. And the return of Kingpin (easily Spidey's best villain in this series).

Agreed on all accounts. This issue just brought the fun back.

A really fun issue, and a great start to the new arc. Kitty as the new student should be an interesting aspect to play with in the series, I just hope she isn't Ult. Ronin. I like the fact DD is now starting to like Peter a bit, and allow him in on things. I also like that Aunt May is now in on all the action, she'll get to know Peter more. I can't wait to see the talk they have when she gets better. I also loved the Daily Bugle scene, I missed the guys at the Bugle in the series. Then we have Jessica Jones as a Senior at Midtown, :D. Great issue, this just brought all the fun back.
