Default Avengers Trades & Hardcovers (Questions & Recommendations)

Given the regularity of questions about which trades are suggested and/or available, I figured a central thread devoted to posters' questions and recommendations could be useful.

Additional information as to which trade paperbacks and hardcovers are currently in print and available can be found at www.marvel.com, http://www.tplist.com, and www.amazon.com.

Default Good Avengers TPBs to read

    Hey there everyone,

I'm recently into the Avengers after reading Disassembled and now New Avengers. I'm interested in reading some of the pre-Disassembled Avengers but I'm looking for a good place to start.

Disassembled is Issue 500 - 503, but looking at some of the TPBs on Grasshoppercomics.com, they are low numbered issues, or Avengers Vol.2 (Which I don't know where that fits into as opposed to Disassembled.)

So basically: can anyone recommend some Avengers TPBs that are fairly recent (i.e. within the last 3-4 years or so?) Thanks =)

I've been picking up some of the Avenger's more recent trades. I've got "World Trust", "In Search of She-Hulk", and "Once and Invader". Of those three, I'd say only "In Search of She-Hulk" was an enjoyable read.

"World Trust" was boring, confused mess that needed a lot more room and time to tell the story. I get really sick of these huge world-shattering events that never get mentioned outside of the pages of a single comic. I mean all the world's capitals get sucked into a quasi-dimension and the Avengers are declared "leaders of the world"? Ignoring that you could do a full year of stories on that premise, why was this not mentioned in Spider-Man? Or anywhere else for that matter?

The story in "Once An Invader" was hard to follow, and basically an ad for the New Invaders. I thought Blazing Skull was cool, but overall wish I had skipped this one.

I'd pick up the hardcovers collecting Busiek, and Perez's run. It's got the best art of George Perez's career, and it's fairly accessible as it reunited the Avengers after the Heroes Reborn fiasco. Volume 2 includes my favorite Avengers story ever, as Ultron becomes an a-list foe.
I'd also buy the Korvac Saga, an excellent tale of the Avengers facing a truly cosmic for.
I've heard great things about "Under Siege" a Masters of Evil story by Roger Stern, but I've never read it.

I enjoyed "World Trust". "Under Siege" was alright. I thought there would be more to it than there was.

    Default Busiek Perez Trades

All the Busiek and Perez trades are good: Morgan Quest, Clear and Present Danger, Supreme Justice, Ultron Unlimited, Kang Dynasty are all good.

Avenger's Forever is pretty decent too and the art is outstanding.

    Question Help w/New Avengers Trades

    Hi all,

I got back into comics in 2002, after a ten year absence, and have since then assembled a pretty big collection, but I only buy trades now, and 95% of my collection is DC (and almost all of my Marvels are Essentials trades).

But I have been wanting to read more (relatively) recent Marvel Comics, and since I prefer team books, I've been looking to get back into the Avengers since I did collect them back in the mid to late 80s. I think the best place to begin would be with the New Avengers trades.

So, could someone please post the names of these trades, in order, so I can look into buying some as Xmas gifts for myself?

    Thanks in advance.

Right now, there's only one hardcover for New Avengers. A soft cover tpb should be released in a few months.

    New Avengers: Breakout.

And the New Avengers: Sentry HC should also be out in a few months.
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

Default Recommend Some Good Avengers TPBs

I just finished reading "Avengers: Operation Galactic Storm" and it was great. I had bought Essential X-men in black&white and it didn't work for me but the color in Avengers provided some flavor. Now of course, I have to know what other Avengers trade paperback's are out there. New Avengers once a month in't enough for me so what do you guy's have in mind?

The Kree-Skrull War one is good if you haven't read that one.

I also recommend the Avengers Forever TPB and the first two Avengers Assemble Hardcovers. The Serpent Crown and Celestial Madonna is also supposedly good and I plan on picking those up up.

Avengers Legends:The Korvac Saga(make sure you get the version with that title, otherwise, you'll be subjected to a lame, tacked on anti-suicide message).

    The Celestial Madonna Saga

Um...what's the one called where the Masters of Evil take ove rAvenger's Mansion and beat the dogs*it out of Jarvis? Under Siege? That's a good one.

    Kree/Skrull War

I f you can afford it, you might wanna check out the hardcover Marvel Milestones book(full color!) that reprent the early issues.
