Default IMMORTAL IRON FIST #3 - Review & Spoilers

IRON FIST #3, Brubaker, Fraction, Aja, Heath, and Foreman, "The Last Iron Fist Story" Part 3 (of 6, I think), out today . . .

Bai Bang-Wen fights the British in the 1860s.

Danny searches for Orson, finds him, and they fight.

    Secrets are revealed.

    Hydra is working for Davos.

Another fine issue. Aja's great, Foreman's all right (if not to my taste), and you can't go wrong with Russ Heath. I especially liked Aja's fight scene at the end. Flashes of J.H. Williams' work on DESOLATION JONES.

Story-wise, I loved the Davos/Hydra scenes. Hydra always has a fun cult-like vibe, and bringing K'un-Lun angle along really plays into that. On the Iron Fist front, Orson's attempt to buy a suit was hilarious. As for Danny himself, the narration felt spot-on to me.

    Anyone else?

#3 was awesome! I loved everything about this issue. Danny's new suit looked awesome, I loved the moments with him on the rooftop. Steel Serpent is back and he and Wei-Go plan to hunt down and kill Iron Fist, with HYRDA working for them. And I was right, Danny and Orson finally meet and both use their Iron Fists against eachother! The fight between the two was so cool, and I loved the ending!

Overall, great art, great writing, and the story continues to be awesome. Can't wait for #4. I simply loved #3.

I'm digging Danny's new/updated costume. It's a lot sleeker and more practical, especially if he's going to be more stealthy. You don't need no oversized collar getting caught anywhere while you're trying to sneak around. Don't get me wrong, his original costume has an old-school classic charm to it, but if Luke Cage gets to ditch his 1970s inspired threads so should the Iron Fist (or at least tone down that collar, yeesh it gets bigger every appearance; also good to see him finally switching from slippers to boots).

Have to read it again, as i was too drugged up on Tylenol and cold medicine at the time, but i think this issue needed some more fight scenes. Loved the scenes were Danny was flipping through the city though especially in the new green suit.

Yeah, that new suit looked so cool when Danny was jumping from rooftop to rooftop. I liked when he took off his mask and was talking to himself. The new suit fit perfectly. I hinestly wouldn't mind if it he kept it.

Bai Bang-Wen is badass. Taking all those gunshots and stabbed on his hand and still kicks the British army ass. How come the all the past Iron Fists are so much cooler than Danny?

Danny is awesome in his own way. :D I have to agree though, Bei Bang-Wei was cool. I hope we see more story for all the past Iron Fists. Orson was also awesome! That headbutt to Danny was so cool.

Man, Iron Fist is just an awesome character. Brubaker and Fraction took Iron Fist and totally just written him in a way that's awesome. We're learning a bunch load about Iron Fist than we'd evert hink we'd know.

#3 was another solid issue. I'm so glad Danny and Orson met at last. #4 now is going to be great. #3 gets a 10/10 from me!

#4 will indeed be cool. I loved the Danny/Orson meeting like I said. I can't wait to see what Danny will say to Orson now. :D

Ed - thanks for re-establishing Iron Fist as a player. Great writing and characterization. And I love the art. It's reminiscent of the gritty flavor I grew to love in DD by Maleev, then Lark. Kudos, sir.
