Apocalypse Appreciation

I can't wait for the new Age of Apocalypse storyline!

Although the original was was one of the greatest X-Men stories ever told, I'm tired as hell of the Age of Apocalypse and really do wish they would quit revisiting it...

Sadly, that's true for a guy so powerful, devious, and intelligent that he should be an even bigger threat than Magneto. In fact, it should actually take the entire Marvel Universe to stop a guy with Apocalypse's power, intellect and talent. I think that's his problem: creators made him WAY too powerful to realistically be so swiftly and continuously beaten by the X-Men, but they also wanted to "restrict" him to the X-titles and make him an X-Men/mutant only-villain. As a result, he ends up getting pwned by the X-teams all the damn time when they should actually need to call the Avengers, Fantastic Four, etc. for help defeating him if he's really as powerful and devious as he's always listed as being.

The fact that Apocalypse went toe to toe with The (Banner) Hulk speaks volumes. The fact that he gets jobed all the time doesn't bode well for Kid (Genesis) Apocalypse .

I'd like to think Poccy is more of a disinterested villain. That all of his plots and schemes are more a fun way to avoid boredom than things he is actually deeply invested in. Like when I play bball with my kid brother and I am not really interested in the outcome as much as I am with tormenting/toying with my kid brother because I know how much it means to him.

So in effect Poccy cares more about the journey in terms of tormenting/toying with humanity and the X-men than he does about actually winning. Ultimately if he did win, I think he would find it quite boring if he got everything he desired.

If?? I don't fully get the question... Are you making up a scenario? I ask because -- The Celestials never appointed anyone to be caretakers of anything. If anything they left "self-aware" intergalactic starships to record the progress of their experiments from which the Inhumans, Eternals, and Deviants were derived.

Good timing to bump this thread, I was reading Blood of Apocalypse yesterday. I think it was more interesting than Remender's work with the villain, presenting him as this twisted messiah who awakens as the mutant race "needs" him, following M Day.
