I'm surprised there hasn't been a discussion thread about FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST . . . until now.
Feel free to discuss anything and everything about this series.

It usually works out better when the thread starter actually says something instead of just "talk about this".
Rorschach - "I understand there are two kinds of people in this world. Victims... and me."
Well then, let's talk about Conqueror of Shamballa.
Do you think Ed should have stayed in his world?

Well, I suppose realistically they need to be kept apart since the story is now about them trying to find each other again.
Al got his body back, so they really don't need the philosopher Stone anymore and all the badguys are beaten.
And I think Full Metal Alchemist is popular enough to milk at least one more movie if not an OAV.
i saw the series over a year ago, and then i started reading the manga scanlations which were real good but then for some reason i just stopped reading, guess i couldnt b bothered to keep checking to see if latest release is out yet (chapter got released once a month i think).
I still got to see the movie

I finished the series, but fell behind on the manga. I've been picked up it, but I stopped at about volume ten. Somehow I missed volume 8 and bought 9. Then I had to hunt for 8.
Plus 8 was the volume where Viz edited a scene where a guy was randomly chained to a stone in the shape of a cross. They made it more a random stone.
Yeah, because there are so many easily offended right wing 'Christians' reading a series where the main character talks about not needing God and sinning against him and where a whole cast of characters are named after the seven deadly sins.

What do you mean by "his world", ours or the fma world? I didn't like that they both ended up in ours. I would have prefered if they found a way for ed to stay in his homeworld and it would have been fine if they were still seperated but I didn't like that they both crossed over into ours.

I thought the whole ending to that movie was silly.
To open a door, you need an exit.
Remove the giant transmutation circle in the subterranean city, and you close the way out.
Either that, or simply fill in the area so that the moment anything passes through the gate, it instantly collides with a wall of earth and stone. Ed and Al were good enough at alchemy to do something like that.

I heard that the manga had a little bit more information than the anime, and that the movie is supposto be some sort of sequel.
The anime diverges from the manga and they had to make up an ending because the manga wasn't done. Pretty much, it's the same thing that happened Trigun or Hellsing.
I've been buying the manga, but I haven't quite read up to where the two stories diverge. I hear the manga ends up quite different. Plus, it's still going on last I heard.

I have watched it on Adult Swim and have really enjoyed it. I am saving up to buy the collection but being a student really makes buying these hard.
There are actually several FMA threads here. There just don’t seem to be any since shortly before the movie (though I’ve seen scatted, mostly negative, reactions to that here and on other boards). Personally I don’t get why most people are so down on the Movie.
Sure I don’t think anyone was too thrilled to see Germany’s Maes Hughes in the Nazi party (I certainly know what MY knee-jerk reaction to it was upon hearing it) but it isn’t like Amestris’ Maes Hughes was actually on the side of the angels. Well he was but he was part of a planned coup trying to overthrow a corrupt government from the inside so an outsider looking in would have just seen him as another part of the oppressive military. I’m more bothered by Maes appearing to be a LOYAL member of the Nazi party (as opposed to his otherworldly counterpart who was just a sheep in wolf’s clothing).
Of course the biggest problem that people seem to have is the resolution of the Elric brothers’ arc. Most people aren’t very happy where the kids end up. I see it as the Elric brothers being reunited and that’s all that really matters. Everything else is secondary.
Kind of hate the Roma chick though. As with the series, I spent most of the movie being beaten over the head with “don’t judge the individual based on group stereotypes” messages only to have Noa turn out to be every bit the greedy selfish backstabbing gypsy that evil Maes thought she was. She’s like the Anti-Scar.
New and improved me. Now with a CAPITAL “B”.
