    Default Horror anime

What's a good horror anime? Preferably non-monster-hero action horror like Guyver and such. Monsters prefered but not necessary.
A lot of people get sentience confused for sapience. Your hamster is sentient, you are sapient. Intelligence is sapience.

Requiem from the Darkness is a good, and underrated, series.

Le portrait de la Petit Cosette. It's more gothic horror than anything else with a good theme behind it[and a bit of Loli thrown in for free:D ]

Try both the anime version of WICKED CITY and the Hong Kong live action version. Same story, but I like the live action version better; it's got a wild energy that easily surpasses the original.

Also DOOMED MEGALOPOLIS, the various OVERFIEND anime, etc. Caution on the OVERFIEND, however; it's really strong stuff.

    Berserk.

Hellsing. (Though wait for Hellsing Ultimate to come out. Much better.)

Full Metal Alchemist may seem like a generic shonen show, but it starts to show some pretty damn good horror elements too.

Of course, the manga for those series take the story futher are are arguably better. Though the Hellsing Ultaimte remake anime is sticking closer to the manga.

Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust. I haven't seen the original in a while, but I remember this follow up film was great.

If by horror you mean "Mystery, Gore, Suspense"

Then go watch Higurashi. I can only find the subs, but it's still excellent.

And scary. In an incredibly awesome way. Even though it looks really cute and cheery, just watch a few episodes.

And yes, Hellsing is a good one, too. Fullmetal Alchemist is okay as far as SOME horror elements go, but not many.

Plenty of monsters, plenty of horror, tons of gore.
