Because they would have had to cast another actress.

    FYI:

Today, Thursday May 10, maybe the last day to see The Avengers in IMAX 3D in your city!

Warner Bros has a deal with movie theaters to remove The Avengers in IMAX to make room for their film Dark Shadows, so today maybe the last day to see Avengers in IMAX 3D in most cities.

I've checked my city, and the 2 films occupying IMAX for the weekend will be Dark Shadows, and Wrath of the Titans (another WB film which has been out since March). No sign of The Avengers IMAX 3D in my city.

I posted numerous IMAX 3D Reviews for The Avengers from critics HERE: (93% Fresh so far).

We've all been a part of The Avengers making history. IMAX 3D is an experience you'll never want to miss.

Huh. I didn't realize the military were originally involved in any way. Does anyone have any info on what happened there? I assumed their omission had to do with how long it would have taken them to respond since the battle covered a relatively short amount of time. Were the producers specifically told to take out army footage they had used? And would that have prevented them from using actors instead of real soldiers?

Huh. So there it is. The military actually refused to participate because a fictitious international spy organization is too scary. THAT'S where the realism line is? Wow.

It has nothing to do with realism or SHIELD since the military has no problem being involved with Transformers and Battleship.

It's probably because the movie isn't filled with pro-military propaganda like those other movies.

No, that's not it. SHIELD is an amorphous entity, and it's unknown if it is a UN or US agency. There are many, many issues when it comes to the relationship between the US and UN when it comes to things such as sovereignty of power, especially in terms of military power. They simply thought better safe then sorry, and you can't blame them for that.

It's not negative to the military in any way though? It has Captain America in it. But it did kind of criticize Fury's plan to use the cube as a weapon. But Fury had a good point about how there were people with powers showing up in the world and then aliens invaded for real so he didn't look that bad.
FAdam K- How do you read comics and sit around on this board and not know who Gorilla Man is after the last couple of years??

In NYC a quite large and powerful and combat experienced military force lives there and has their arms and Weapons there. that is true for every major city and many small towns in the US.

it is much easier to use civilians to play troops than troops to play troops since the government must bill for every cost inured including salaries

I suppose the shadow council planning to nuke NYC can arguably be viewed as negative.

Not sure if this has been posted but, I found it amusing.

Friend of mine over at the FightFanatics boards sent it to me

What if the male Avengers had to pose like Black Widow

if Hulk weren't a nevernude, we'd see way more objectification of him. and Rogers was being eye raped by Coulson for the first half of the movie. he even made him try on a new costume; w/o the giant butt-obscuring belt.

I think most people in the Military would agree with that.

anyone found it funny that fury bazooka-ed a plane jet carrying an atom bomb which probably should have blown up on the shield carrier.

Nukes live though crashes just fine. they are hard to set off intentionally had nearly impossible to set off intentionally. Burn the hit the drop them form 5 miles high and they might break if you are unlucky but they wil not go off without a perreciue detonation sequence. The old movie scene were they are delicately trying to defuse the nuke is BS, hitting the electronics with a hammer will do just fine.
