Tony Stark (to Thor): Doth Mother know you weareth her drapes?
Won lots of stuff...
No, this isn't about feats of combat. I expected him to fight alongside the Avengers, not spend half the movie fighting against them. I also expected to see his comic book personality - a cocky, Han Solo type that disrespects authority and has a strong moral compass. Not a grizzled SHIELD veteran who uses a bow. They changed everything that defines the Hawkeye character, with the exception of his archery. It couldn't be any less faithful to the source material if it tried.
It isn't his bow skills that attract me to the character. I get that he can hit stuff from far away and in difficult/impossible circumstances. What's interesting is his criminal history, desire for redemption, cocky, flirty attitude and sense of righteous principles.
Don't get me wrong, it was an excellent film. Jeremy Renner is a great actor, too... but not the right actor for Hawkeye, and the character he conveyed was totally different to the one I know and love.

Just got back from the cinema here in the UK. Blown away. Joss and the gang have done a phenomenal job with this movie.
The plot was great, each character felt just as important as each other. It had heart, action, tragedy, some absolutely HILARIOUS moments that genuinely had the entire cinema in stitches. I actually believe this is one of the best movies I've seen in terms of delivering exactly what was promised. I can't think of any part I would change, apart from maybe making it 6 or 7 hours longer (I honestly didn't want it to end, even though the movie is almost 2 and a half hours long already).
Post credits scene, I called it as soon as I saw one part of the alien army (the movie takes a nice handful of inspiration from the Ultimate comics as well as 616 so I recognised some clues straight off).
Very good film. Very very good.
This was a very VERY Ultimate Hawkeye. Not 616 Clint at all. As an Ultimates fan he was perfect for me but I can see why the 616 fans would be disheartened by this. For me he worked really well but he was definitely not based on 616 Clint at all.

"Predictable? If there were any more plot twists going on, we'd need M. Night Shyamalan to randomly appear at the end saying 'What a twist' before vanishing". - Kurolegacy on Ult X-Men #8.
Just got home from the cinema myself here in the Philippines. It's on in almost EVERY theater here, and they've been playing to packed houses since Wednesday. It's even making all the online movie seat reservation sites run slow because of extraordinary traffic.
Let me just say, as a die hard DC and Justice League fan, this was just AWESOME. Best superhero team movie ever. If DC ever wants to put out a JLA movie, they have a hell of a bar to clear.
Simple story, which is perfect, but the detail is extensive. Perfect for such a movie. Everyone got to shine.
Kick-ass action sequences!
Some personal notes:
Just seeing the Avengers come together was awesome. But I don't know if I actually heard anyone say: "Avengers, Assemble."
I could be wrong and might have missed it.
Iron-man: You could see it coming a mile away but Downey was his usually snappy self. Well done.
Hulk: AWESOME. Mark Ruffalo was brilliant as Bruce Banner. Did NOT miss Ed Norton despite being a fan.
Cap: Well played but I liked the costume from his own movie better. Still, Chris Evans held his own against an all-star cast.
Thor: Chris Hemsworth was just okay but his range wasn't tested here anyway..
Hakweye: Cool.
Agent Coulson: Definitely my favorite non-superhero. Sorry Nick Fury.
Colby Smulders: Man, bad ass but I just kept seeing Robin Sherbatsky...
Sam Jackson: Is Sam Jackson.
Loki: Let me just say, Hiddleston deserves to be in more movies! That exchange with Black Widow was just awesome. Actually, he was brilliant with EVERYONE he had scenes with.
Action Sequences: Joss Whedon and Crew just gave us the best geek movie action sequences EVER. Hands down. Everyone on deck will have a tough time topping this. Transformers, GI JOE, Star Trek, Spiderman, Batman, Superman, will all have to bring their A-games.
I love this movie, everything was great. All characters had a shining moment and the reveal post credits, was just another level. Mark Ruffalo was a brilliant Banner, very surprised if he doesn't get a Hulk sequel.
I saw this movie today, it's THE BEST superhero movie ever madeCan't wait for the sequel and many more marvel movies

Easily on my 22 years of life on this earth i have never had a better 2 hours and 11 minutes, ever. ill try not to spoil, but hot damn.
-Fury and rogers bet was funnier then hell to me.
-i reallly really , loved how awkward cap was in this movie, with the pop culture stuff it was amazing
-this posters ragging on rob leifelds art is not ment as hatred toward the man he is a professional artist and got that way for a reason...however i cannot condone the use of pouches-
Chris Even shone in Fantastic Four as the standout performer in the movie, but he had a challenging time to make Steve Rogers seem real as Captain America, instead of the happy go lucky Johnny Storm. Granted it was only the first time Chris was thrown into a group like the powerhouses that are the Avengers, but in the next movie, Chris is going to have to really enforce his authority over the battle field movements, to make a very authoritative Captain America. That scene where Cap and Tony were arguing, and Cap raged for Tony to put on the suit to fight, was great. spoilers:end of spoilers
Just then, the Helicarrier was rocked by an explosion, and Cap said to Tony, "Put on the suit", and Tony said Yeah, but the argument was all forgotten and they were allies again.
I forgot to mention Loki myself. He really nailed the joy of having an army to put one over on his brother, and reveled in the brilliance of his plan. I loved the enjoyment Loki was having in each scene, in a Doom liking sort of way. You have to have a villain that enjoys himself, believing in what he is doing. Hiddleston made me enjoy every appearance he made on the screen, with his infectious smile.
Who was Colby Smulders?

I keep reading she did just fine....but that bothers me how a lot of fans can't separate an actor from an established role.....she wouldn't have the job if Whedon didn't think she could cut it, and apparently it was quite a thorough search for Maria Hill
