Default Audioslave is Dead! Long Live Rage!

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070122/en_nm/rage_dc

OK, I did not see that one coming. Granted, we'll see if it lasts any longer than your average Diamond Dave/Van Halen reunion.

Believe me, I'm thinking about it.

    *wets self*

This is one of those moment where I wish I had a digital camera so I could show the world my glorious RATM tattoo, but you'll have to imagine this on my wrist.

Audioslave suck IMO, but each to their own. I'm glad Zach's here to take the power back

    :)

Well, like I said, let's see if this lasts past a show. Or, for that matter, if they've managed to rekindle any of the magic.

Man, I'm pretty lukewarm about Coachella this year. Bjork, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage as headliners? Don't care to see any of them. Of course, the headlining stage is so crowded it's not worth seeing the headliners anyway. EDIT: I came across a confirmed lineup.
    The rest of the list:
Tiesto, Arcade Fire, Interpol, Manu Chao, Willie Nelson, Air, Happy Mondays, The Decemberists, Faithless, Gotan Project, The Good, The Bad and The Queen, Paul Van Dyk, Arctic Monkeys, The Roots, Jarvis Cocker, Sonic Youth, Crowded House, Placebo, Satellite Party, Stephen Marley feat Jr. Gong, Kings of Leon, DJ Shadow
Kaiser Chiefs, Koono No. 1, LCD Soundsystem, Nickel Creek, Travis, Damien Rice, Black Keys, Blonde Redhead, Infected Mushroom, New Pornographers, Peeping Tom, Placebo, Rufus Wainwright, The Rapture, Explosions in the Sky, Richie Hawtin, !!!, Benny Benassy, Felix Da Housecat, Hot Chip, Jacks Mannequin, Julieta Venegas, Lily Allen, Lupe Fiasco, Ozomatli, Peaches, Ghostface Killah, Jose Gonzales, Amos Lee, Brazilian Girls, Fountains of Wayne
Regina Spektor, VNV Nation, Coco Rosie, Cornelius, Gillian Welch, Junior Boys, Pharaohe Monche, Roky Erickson and the Explosives, Soulwax, Sparklehorse, The Kooks , Tilly and the Wall, Andrew Bird, Peter Bjorn & John, The Frames
Gogol Bordello, Comedians of Comedy, Justice, MSTRKRFT, We Are Scientists, Yeva, Grizzly Bear, Amy Winehouse
Avett Brothers, Circa Survive, The Coup, The Cribs, CSS, Digitalism, Erol Alkan, Evil Nine, Girl Talk, Klaxons, Noisettes
Spank Rock, Tapes 'n Tapes, The Fields, Tokyo Police Club, Rodrigo Y Gabriella, DJ Heather, The Feeling, Fratellis, Mike Relm, Silversun Pickups, Busdriver, Brother Ali, Nightwatchman (Tom Morello) , Bojones, Mika, Pop Levi, Anathallo
    Fair to Midland

Okay, I'm kinda excited. The New Pornographers? Tapes N' Tapes? Amy Winehouse? CSS? Arcade Fire? All great bands I want to see. I missed Regina Spektor when she came through Tucson, so it'd be great to see her. Lily Allen, LCD Soundsystem, Kaiser Chiefs, Black Keys, The Good, The Bad and The Queen, The Roots and even Willie Nelson would be cool to see.

I can't believe it, even though i live halfway across the country, i would make the trek, just to see Rage!! It doesn't matter what other bands are playing at the Festival, I would pay just to see Rage, yea! Testify!!! Chris Cornell is awesome, and so is Audioslave, but it is nothing compared to Rage!

Wow, elheffe, pretty keen line up. If I still lived in southern California, I'd definitely consider Coachella this year.

I remember seeing !!! at Coachella in 2004 and being pleasantly blown away.

The original fire has died and gone.

And you would know this how? Have you sat in on the rehearsals or something? Close friend of Morello's are you?

I would love to see Coachella this year and I'd love to see Rage. Plus the Roots, Brazilian Girls, Regina Spektor, Damien Rice, Ghostface, Sonic Youth, Comedians of Comedy? Sounds great. I've lived in LA for 6 years and I've never been. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure I have a gig in Florida that weekend.

Why is Audioslave automatically "dead"? While this is astonishing news, what I read at the official RATM site asserts this is a one-off performance.

Where has it been stated that Audioslave has disbanded?

I wouldn't be surprised if Audioslave called it quits but I haven't heard anything definitive. I got a feeling when they released two albums in quick succession that they might be trying to fill a contractual obligation, but who knows. I certainly hope they stay together.
