    Default Bruce Springsteen: Winterland

Hey guys, I saw one of you dudes mentioning this concert in a recent post: I am a major Bruce fan, so I downloaded it...it's just...wow....AWESOME! The sound quality is pretty decent, and there was enough material for 3 discs! Was this all one concert? JESUS! All the songs he plays are my favorites, too. All classics. Just a big thankyou to you guys for pointing me in this direction. +++vibes+++ What year is this? He plays some stuff off "The River" so its got be about 1979, right? Maybe '78?

He does do early, unfinished versions of The Ties That Bind and Point Blank that night, but it's December 15, 1978. Darkness On The Edge of Town tour. This is generally regarded as one of, if not the, best shows of the tour. The sound quality is very good, because it was one of five radio broadcasts that were made during this tour (collect the whole set!). It was mixed for broadcast by Jimmy Iovine, who engineered the Darkness album (and who leaked the unfinished recording of Because The Night to Patti Smith).

It's all one concert (depending on which version you have, there may be some bonus tracks at the end from other shows - Quarter To Three is the last song from that show).

Thanks Spike-X! Its an amazing show. I love Bruce, the way he transmits his warmth onstage, addding to these already incredible songs.

I do have 7 bonus tracks then, including him doing "The Promise" (one of my favorite of his songs) "Growin' Up" plus some covers.

I saw Bruce live when he came to Sydney last time, and he was GREAT. I had been waiting since I became a fan in 1992, to see him live, and I just LOVED it. When he did "Rosalita" I felt like Bruce was singing just for me, and that is a part of his gift. A consumate performer, as well as one of the greatest song-writers ever.

Ah, the infamous 'power outage' show. Also one of only two shows on The Rising tour of which there is no known recording.

Rumour has it there's going to be one final E Street Band album and tour some time this year (and continuing into 2008). I really hope they make it down here again.

That is the ultimate version (although some disagree, preferring the March 25, 1977 version).

    "Final"?

I don't like the sound of that.

I would love to see them again, but I wish they wouldn't stop!
