Do you guys think that it be a good idea if they make the Death of Superman into a live action movie? If so, who are the characters that you think should be and shouldn't be included in the movie?

I always thought of Superman as the "Mickey Mouse" of DC or superhero comics in general. Just an icon/figure head that is no longer relevant. I'm suprised that there has still been interest in him all these years. I though that people only liked characters that were flawed and in the grey area, or underdogs.
But that's all under the assumption that most of the stories being told about Superman are just "going through the motions". My view is an outside one.
I've usually not been interested enough in Superman to even try to read any of his books. But I keep on thinking that there is potential for really awesome cosmic stories. I think that Superman would be interesting if he ditched Earth and decided to "go where no man has gone before". If he did that, then why would he keep his costume? Well,.. for corporate copyright reasons I guess.
Anyway,.. as a Superman noob,.. would you recommend John Byrnes 80's series? I'm already a fan of John Byrnes stuff anyway. But I just can't swallow the whole "for truth and justice and the american way" boy scout thing that Superman seems to be.
I am no expert, but the Byrne stories are generally highly regarded. They are a different style from today, obviously, since they are from 25 years ago.
Could someone please recommend some Supergirl collections? I already have Superman/Batman: Supergirl, but nothing really beyond that.
The two Peter David Supergirl collections are good, but they're a completely different character to the one running around these days
I'd recommend Byrne's Superman if you're into classic 80's style comics. They've got cool art and can be pretty fun. I'm not sure they hold up to modern sensibilities but I enjoy them.
My highest possible recommendation to a person who feels Superman can't be interesting is to guide them to All Star Superman; this shows you how a character that powerful can be fascinating.
superman is my idol!!!
I think a quick one-shot on catching fans up on Superman history would be nice. I know some people jumping on board because of New Krypton and it think it would be helpful. Especially with Conner's return. Any suggestions for trades that can view new readers an understanding of Conner?
Hey all. I can't remember the last time I read a Superman title. Usually, my dose of Supes comes from crisis/event books or when he makes an appearance in another title that I read. I'm a little tight on my budget but if you guys can recommend one Superman title that I can add to my pull list I would greatly appreciate it. All-Star Superman sounds appealing, but I'd kinda like something that is in continuity. I'm saving my All-Star slot for when Grant does the Captain Marvel.
I have no problem with the story, but after the original comics, the Justice League cartoon, Superman/Doomsday, and season 8 of Smallville, I think it's been used enough the past few years, plus there are budget issues, and it's hard to get a good return story adaptation since the original took over a year to tell and tied in with years of earlier Superman continuity.
Pull List; seems to be too long to fit in my sig...
I was never much into superman but I finished reading all star superman vol. 2 hc and now I love Supes.
Does anyone know if they are gonna release All Star Superman as a Hardcover? I started reading them as floppies but I personally collect Hardcovers and TPB's so I decided to stop collecting the floppies and just wait until the full Trade comes out.

Exactly. He might be difficult for many to relate to because he's so selfless, noble, and non-neurotic -- and therefore unlike 99.9% of actual human beings -- but it's because of these traits that he's actually extremely relevant. He's still the epitome of heroism and that's well appreciated by other characters in the DCU as well as by readers of the comics themselves.
