Which failure surprised you the most?

After reading the sonic is now lame thread, i went to moms house and dug through the closests, trying to find my genesis and super nintendo,so i could replay sonic 2 to see if it's still fun, and so i could play final fantasy 3 again.
Couldn't find the genesis, but i did find my brothers Dreamcast. Dreamcast was the first failed system my family ever owned(We had one of the ataris though...but that was pre nintendo so i'm not counting it,as i was like 1.) It sold great when it came out, the graphics look better then psone and n64, it had some really good games, and it sold wonderful at launch.
So i can say i was shocked at it's failure, it didn't make the mistakes of the Sega cd or 32x (IE, being a fairly useless addon that really added nothing) It was, unlike the saturn, designed for 3d games, which were hitting their stride att he time, it just kinda flopped, due mainly to the ps2 (i beleive that was the case at least).
But ps2 also trumped gamecube, and it didn't go anywhere.
So, anyone else have a negative surprise? Maybe surprised that no one played System Shock 2?

I remember a friend of mine had a "turbo graphics 16" I think..... I remember a LOT of hype at the time, but it didn't last long and then just disappeared....

Yknow, i never understood what they were going for with that thing.
I saw the head guy on G4 once, he showed how he could play some version of Thief on it...not very impressive as you could get the game on consoles anyway.
It was basicly a stripped down pc that could only play and download old pc games, never understood why they thought it was a good idea.

Shame about the Dreamcast. I own it, and it has some great games. Both Power Stone and Power Stone 2 are incredibly fun; one of Capcom's great lost franchises.

And I really dug Sonic Adventure as well.

The Bouncer by Square (PS2) was a big flopp I believe. It wasn't a surpirese after I played the lackluster game, but before playing it, when I believed the hype - that graphics made a game - I was shcoked byits abismal reception.

What was wrong with Shenmue? That was one of the best things to come out of the DC

As for me, the only games to really surprise me with their crappiness were Drakengard and Sudeki. I was so excited about those games and they turned out to be complete crap.

I didn't say that Shenmue sucked as a game in general (it's pretty good). However in sales, it's the Tron of video games (really expensive to make, but not alot of people bought it).

Well I owned a Dream Cast, and all the games kicked ass!
