Red face Lets Celebrate Eminems Genius

ok First of all, if this would just be better suited for the favorate rap verse Thread feel free to move it in,

The point of this Thread is just to highlight to all The eminem fans and non-fans(indie guys) just how much of a genius he is (was).

Me being a long time hip hop fan with over 450 hiphop albums i have a decent bit of knowledge in the hip of the hop. All topics and genres of rap,
Political, gangsta, backpacker, pop, crunk, eastcoast/westcoast, third coast.
    whatever the rap.

Basically, even tho some of the best songs and hooks are ad-libbed, if you looked at the lyrics on a page, they would be so out of sync(20 bars in one verse then 10 in second or third, ect ect= never equal)to most tupac songs or even nas, jay-z or rakim, the verses and hooks are never always perfectly layed out or planned.

eminem, one of the few , has a tremedous talent for constructing a song.
    check this song out.

    4 bars for intro
    16-bars = 1st verse
    8bars-chorus
    16-bars=2nd verse
    8bars-chorus
    16 bars-last verse
    4bars-outro

    I'm a soldier, i'm a soldier, i'm a soldier, i'm a soldier...

Yo', never was a thug, just infatuated with guns, never was a gangsta, 'til I graduated to one,
and got the rep of a villain, for weapon concealin', took the image of a thug, kept shit
appealin', willin' to stick out my neck, for respect if it meant life or death, never live to
regret what I said, when you're me, people just want to see, if it's true, if it's you, what you
say in your rap's, what you do, so they feel, as part of your obligation to fulfill, when they
see you on the streets, face to face, are you for real, in confrontation ain't no conversation,
if you feel you're in violation, any hesitation'll get you killed, if you feel it, kill it, if
you conceal it, reveal it, being reasonable will leave you full of bullets, pull it, squeeze it,
till it's empty, tempt me, push me, pussies, I need a good reason to give this trigger a good
    squeeze...

    [CHORUS]

I'm a soldier, these shoulder's hold up so much, they won't budge, i'll never fall or fold up,
i'm a soldier, even if my collar bone's crush or crumble, I will never slip or stumble, i'm a
soldier, these shoulder's hold up so much, they won't budge, i'll never fall or fold up, i'm a
soldier, even if my collar bone's crush or crumble, I will never stumble...

I love pissin' you off, it get's me off, like my lawyer's, when the fuckin' judge let's me off,
all you motherfuckers gotta do is set me off, i'll violate and all the motherfuckin' bet's be
off, i'm a lit fuse, anything I do brings in news, pistol whippin' motherfuckin' bouncers,
six-two, who needs bullets, soon as I pull it, you sweat bullets, an excellent method to get rid
of the next bully, it's actually better cause instead you murderin', you can hurt em' and come
back again and kick dirt at 'em, it's like pourin' salt in the wounds, assault and get sued, you
can smell the lawsuits soon as I waltz in the room, everybody halts and stops, calls the cops,
all you see is bitches comin' out their halter tops, runnin' and duckin' out the Hot Rocks
parking lot, you'll all get shot whether its your fault or not, cause...

    [CHORUS]

I spit it slow so these kids know that i'm talkin' to 'em, give it back to these damn critics
and sock it to em, i'm like a thug, with a little bit of Pac influence, I spew it, and look how
I got you bitches rockin' to it, you motherfuckers could never do it like I could do it, don't
even try it, you'll look stupid, do not pursue it, don't ever in your life, try to knock the
truest, I spit the illest shit, ever been dropped to two inch, so ticky-tock listen as the sound
ticks on the clock, listen to the sound of Kim as she licks on a cock, listen to the sound of me
spillin' my heart through this pen, motherfuckers know that i'll never be Marshall again, full
of controversy until I retire my jersey, 'til the fire inside dies and expires at thirty, and
Lord have mercy on any more of these rappers that verse me, and put a curse on authorities in
the face of adversity, i'm a...

    [CHORUS]

Yo' left, yo' left, yo' left, right, left, yo' left, yo' left, yo' left, right, left, yo' left,
yo' left, yo' left, right, left, yo' left, yo' left, yo' left, right, left...

Apart from his skills, what I like about Eminem is how his work is a long and deep reflexion on fame, public perception, the media and morality.

That freestyle off of the end of 8 mile is the best rap I've ever heard. I remember watching it and just going...like...wow.

I like his stuff because its a lot different to the predominat gangster rap thing that is dominating the mainstream music scene. He streak me as quirky, with a good sense of humour. That said, his latest stuff has gone slightly down hill.

Love him. He's probably my 3rd or 4th favorite artist. The only thing is that he comes off as a bit paranoid at times.

great analysis here and also to the OP.

eminem is hated on for so many wrong reasons. people fail to remember that he is one of the few mcs with witty, if not intelligent, rhymes and that he pioneered a whole new rhyming structure -- no one, NO ONE was rhyming 4-6 syllable phrases with such consistency before eminem. im not saying he invented it, im just saying he stepped the game up.

and his production skills are also slept on. HEAVILY.

Is it just me or are there 2 different Eminems so to speak. When he's solo, his songs are very personal and unique, but when he's doing a song with another artist, like 50 Cent for example, he tries to fit in to the whole "gangsta" style.

I'm no expert on hip hop, but that's the way it seems to me.

it's true, he's like a shapeshifter sometimes, he atempts to fit into each song he does, or collaborates, i prefer his albums than anything else.

That's right, although not everything he says should be taken at face value. And sometimes, even when he's featuring on someone else's song, he plays by his own rules. On Jay-Z's song "Renegades", while Hova is offering a typical "gangsta" point of view (although slightly more sophisticated than average):

"I had to hustle, my back to the wall, ashy knuckles
Pockets filled with a lot of lint, not a cent
Gotta vent, lot of innocent of lives lost on the project bench
Whatchu hollerin? Gotta pay rent, bring dollars in
By the bodega, iron under my coat, feelin braver
Doo-rag wrappin my waves up, pockets full of hope"

... Eminem is deconstructing and analyzing the typical gangsta posture and why it's much more ambiguous than what we usually suspect:

"Since I'm in a position to talk to these kids and they listen
I ain't no politician but I'll kick it with 'em a minute
Cause see they call me a menace; and if the shoe fits I'll wear it
But if it don't, then y'all'll swallow the truth grin and bear it
Now who's these king of these rude ludicrous lucrative lyrics
Who could inherit the title, put the youth in hysterics
Usin his music to steer it, sharin his views and his merits
    But there's a huge interference - they're sayin you shouldn't hear it
Maybe it's hatred I spew, maybe it's food for the spirit
Maybe it's beautiful music I made for you to just cherish"

Eminem might have a way with words... but, he's a complete pussy.

I mean, who starts fights with Moby? And, he had is body gaurds keep Triumph the insult comic dog (A FUCKING PUPPET!!) away from him.

I mean really. That's on par with that asshole from American Idol. You sit around all day making millions of dollars for talking shit, then can't handle it when it comes back around. Kinda like Bam from Jackass.

    MOBY!!! I mean, c'mon... Moby? http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...=Search+Images

Fuck Marshall Mathers. Whatever I could have enjoyed about him, went out the window with the Moby thing.

Ummm what the fuck are you talking about? LMAO

Eminem consturcts most of his songs the same way EVERYONE constructs most of their songs.

16 bars is the typical verse.

Wtf @ if you looked at it on page...

what are you even talking about?

Do you know what a bar is?

Cuz the things you posted don't show anything. Nothing but a verse written as a paragraph. That wouldn't tell you how many bars there is. Bars aren't words and text. Bars is MUSIC.

And Eminem was nice for his first 2 albums then fell off hard with Encore and all that wack shit.

He was never as good as white fans made it out though. Not even close. Usualy people who haven't heard much rap or are new to it think that he's some amazing new god.
