Remember The Alamo (The One With Elves): "Texas Strangers" Debuts
This March sees the debut of "Texas Strangers," Image's only series aimed at a kids audience. CBR News rounded up creators Antony Johnston & Dan Evans III to talk about the fantasy-western book and its unique place in the kid-deprived industry.
I wouldn't say "Image's only series aimed at a kids audience"
Lions, Tigers & Bears, The Cryptics, and Death Jr. might have something to say about that (well, I might be splitting hairs on the latter titles). And those are still being published. They're not one-shots. Even I had an all-ages series at Image long ago. In fact, Image has had many all-ages titles published (Bone, et.)
But, I see your point. All-ages material is light (with all the multi-genre publishers), but not completely ignored. Still, I'm ALWAYS down for all-ages material and I am wishing you the best of luck! I know Dan and he's a good guy and knows his smack! I expect good things.
[edit] because I can't spell today... Hah!

You're right, Jimmy, the text isn't as accurate as it could be. TEXAS RANGERS is, at present, Image's only monthly series aimed at a kids audience, and I've edited the piece accordingly. Thanks!
Well, I hope ya' didn't get the wrong impression, because I am really rooting for TEXAS STRANGERS. I just didn't want to see Mike Bullock's LT&B get misrepresented.
Yeah MONTHLY is very cool! Especially with the 2-issue story arc format. That'll work nicely. In fact, I'm pulling for any, and all, of the kid oriented books (with all publishers). I hope to launch my next project this year, and it's also for all-ages! Dan knows I have a soft spot for this, but I've been so concerned about the treatment of the Direct Market on such material. Drives me to drinking when I see good books getting the short stick.
TEXAS STRANGERS should do well. Not only as all-ages, but also because Westerns are looking good, too.
HAHAHAHA!! Andy... my bad! I'm talking to you as if you were promoting the book, not reporting on the book. I assumed you (who posted) was actually making the book (the artist, et.). Serves me right for going straight to "reply" without looking at the author. My apologies, mate!
You're right, of course; TEXAS STRANGERS is by no means the only kids' book Image publishes, and we aren't claiming it is ;) The fact that they've published your work, recently handled ROCKETO, and of course now do stuff like DEATH JR. and LT&B is one of the reasons I felt fairly confident about pitching TS to them. But as Andy clarified, TS is the only *monthly series* for kids at Image, so we're all on tenterhooks to see how that goes.
Anyway, thanks for your support! Fancy doing a pin-up? :D
Haha Dan, you're never in trouble. You always think that - when the opposite is the case.
HELL YEAHS I'll do a pin up. Dan knows where my heart is, and I'm all down for kids entertainment. Please, don't let the Bomb Queen fool ya'. (spoken in my Billy Dee Williams voice)
