in Secret war its mentioned that jessica is trained to deal with any superhuman threat to include Sentry... any truth behind this or is it just hype?
Unless Jessica Drew's pheromone powers she uses to lull men into comas or whatever is stronger than we've previously seen, then this is all hype. Black Widow would murder every other spy around.
Peace.
I want to call bull on this, but considering these days Bendis tends to warp the marvel universe around what he writes instead of what actually makes sense, it's probably true.
Dunno -- it does seem to come out of nowhere.
Bendis' plotline with Spider-Woman is actually kind of neat; but I don't see how it makes her the most dangerous spy in the Marvel Universe.
I would argue that Nick Fury is the most dangerous spy in the Marvel Universe, if anything because he has practically limitless info and resources.
Both quoted for truth. Loved those two recent Black Widow minis, which showcased how lethal she is outside the confines of an AVENGERS title. And Joey Q seriously needs to start doing his job and editing Bendis' stories and constant continuity/history errors, instead of meekly worrying about stepping on his toes.Originally Posted by Alan2099

Hate to bandy his name about like this, but Logan's done some pretty good spyin'.

Jessica Drew - most wishy washy Marvel Spy
otherwise, i give "most dangerous" title to Natasha Romanov. she's a legend.
Not sure what the concern is here. According to the initial post, all that's been said is that she's "trained to deal with" any threat -- not to necessarily win. Not "the most dangerous spy" -- that's the thread-starter's own quote, right?
Being trained HOW to deal with something could mean "Call for immediate backup if the Hulk starts tearing things up." I'm pretty sure Marvel didn't say "Can defeat any threat, no matter how powerful" or anything. Where, aside from the thread title, does anyone say she's more dangerous than anyone?
People sure do have their grudges against Bendis. I don't like New Avengers either, but if the actual quote is just "trained to deal with," this is much ado about not much.

Black Widow still seems more dangerous to me. she's even impressed Aries.
Yeah, but Marvel writers have been guilty of riding on Natasha's reputation, rather than being consistent in showing us why she is considered the "deadliest woman in the world". Most of the time, it seems Black Widow's reputation is shoved down our throats, with many of her wins being off-panel. The few exceptions were the MTU 4-parter (BW, Spidey, Nick Fury, and Shang-Chi vs. Viper, Silver Samurai, and a mind-controlled S.H.I.E.L.D.), the Marvel Fanfare multi-parter, and a BW mini or two. Otherwise, I only feel like we've seen proof that she's a highly competent spy, not necessarily one that beats ALL comers.
I think Jessica & Natasha show different strengths that make them top-notch spies. Natasha is one of the best "masters of disguise" in the world, a peerless saboteur, and easily one of the most ruthless espionage agents. Jessica capably gains trust of her "marks", is also a good saboteur, and arguably better at stealth than even Natasha. In a "pre-planned" scenario, I'd probably give it to Natasha. However, in a straight-up fight, Jessica will own her in 7 out of 10 bouts.
