They've both had more than one origin...
I don't like Babs--too neurotic and self-righteous, so I never thought it worth the time to invest in BGY1. Is it good? I like Robin Year One. And HCFB is awesome. It's the book which turned me into a Huntress fan.

Batgirl Year One is better by far.
Oddly, I thought Batgirl Year One was the better comic, but Hiuntress and her family of Mafioso has the better origin.

Isn't a Huntress Year One limited series starting in 2007? Looking forward to that (unless my addled brain just made it up - I'm sure it was mentioned in a DC Nation) immensely!
Ow, come on...
The only thing that BG:Y1 has going for it over H:CFB is the nostalgia factor.
CFB far outstrips BG:Y1 in both ideas and execution.
BG:y1 did have prettier art though.
'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."
We are in agreement here. That said, BGy1 does leave out some parts of Babs' origin, explaining how she came to live in the Gordon household, and what happened to her parents. I think that makes her origin much better than it would be otherwise. Huntress' origin is still better though.
Huntress...I like her hands down. Better everything in any catagory you can think of.

Yes it is. I don't know if it has been solicited yet. But it will be written by Ivory Madison. HCFB, isn't really a HY1 book. It explains/retcons her origin and background. But it does not cover her first year in Gotham City and her start as Huntress. Ivory Madison has said that she will incorporate pieces from HCFB.

I'm going to have to say batgirl for a couple of reasons.
1. I'm not farmiliar too much with Huntress orgin
2. Batgirl is my second favorite DCU character, right behind Jim Gordon. Jim Gordon year 1, that would rock.
As much as I hate to admit it, Huntress has a better origin and is a lot more fun to read about. The mob upbringing and being a teacher made her more interesting and for a very short time, I wanted it to be her and Dick together. (no pun intended)
Wonderman is only Pro for the shiny new rocketbelts. :D
