    Default Most Religious Avengers/Marvel Heroes

I found this interesting article in the internet about religious Marvel Universe heroes. Wonder Man and Captain America are some of the ones mentioned:

    Wonder Man, Cooler than Superman
I thought a comedian like the Beast would naturally gravitate to a classic straight man like Simon Williams, and vice versa. They’re also both bright and intellectual. I had fun playing them off against each other. David Michelinie did great stuff with them, things I would never think of. He’s amazing with that kind of character interplay. Sure, they could co-star in a series, if you had a Michelinie or his clone writing it.-Jim Shooter

that's a really interesting article. I, for one, am not adverse to characters being religious, as belief in a higher being makes up about 99% of the world's population

Firebird is a deeply religious woman to the point she would rather serve the church than be a super-hero; she seems to only make her appearances in The Avengers as a guest role in a few stories. I would like her deep religious convictions to be used more often as a permanent member of The Avengers, but I think the Marvel editors are scared of making Christians mad if someone wrote Firebird wrong...

They didn't put Nightcrawler on that list, and his faith is like a hallmark of his very character.

Right; you have to go up one level to find the main list. Nightcrawler's article is at

    http://www.adherents.com/lit/comics/Nightcrawler.html

The Wonder Man article was just a list of people involved in the Infinity Crusade.

Daredevil is pretty religious. So much, in fact, that when trying to figure out a way to break his spirit, Mysterio chose to use his Catholic faith against him.

Yeah, and in Wonder Man's case he was probably picked for the second category the Goddess chose: "Those who do not fit that profile have all had after-death experiences..."

(edit: and I'm freaked out seeing my own name on the Deadpool-page)

It would seem like it since they don't mention Firebird, Nightcrawler or Daredevil.

I would have picked Bonita (Firebird), Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler), and Matt Murdock (Daredevil) in that order for the top three.
