This is one of the top books on my list that's for sure. Bendis may have his fair share of nayaysers, but he sure knows how to write some good dialogue scenes. And Bagley's art is Grade A. His rendition of Venom is the best IMO.

If I could make some recomendations to ya, pick up the "Learning Curve" (Vol 2), and "Warriors" (Vol 14) tpb's. Those are the best examples of what I'm talkin' about.

actually i think legacy is the best arc so far in USM. i used to be a huge fan of USM up until the superstars arc. hell i even enjoyed the hollywood arc. but everything after hollywood just started to fade for me. that and i dont see whats so great about warriors. everyone talks about it as the best written USM arc but for me i thought the writing was lame and the story even more lame. but bendis did introduce ultimate moonknite rather well so i guess i have to give him a little credit

You must not have looked very hard because there are dozens (and probably hundreds) of USM threads here. I doubt there's ever been a time when a USM thread was not on the first page of the list.

    But yeah, it's great.

The USM line has been pretty hit and miss for me.
Trades 1-6 [Power and Responsibility to VENOM] were amazing but then the series took a dive. "Irresponsible" was dreadful, "Cats and Kings" I thought was cool, "Ultimate 6" was quite average, "Hollywood" was just fun, "Carnage" If Gwen hadn't been "killed" this arc would have rocked so much, "Superstars" MEH, "Hobgoblin" not great but not overly bad, "Warriors" Fracking awesome!!!!!! "Silver Sable" was just horrible "Deadpool" don't even get me started on and then "CLONE SAGA" for me this arc really saved this series! And then there's the 2 Annuals which have been VERY very cool!

Every arc that I've read about ultimate spider-man was fun fun and fun. The only stories that felt meh was Morbius and Deadpool but that's forgivable, since bendis was trying to reach the clone saga story which of course is awesome as well.

Despite people's bitchings and ramblings of nip picking, I love and enjoy Ultimate spider-man and hope it still remains the same awesome book, even after Bagley leaves.

It's my favorite Spider-Man title hands down. Only arc I didn't really care for was Carnage the rest I have enjoyed a lot. Clone Saga has been amazing imo.

I liked Legacy, Warriors, and Cats & Kings. I though Irresponsibility was pretty good because of the interactions with the X-Men and the insight into Aunt May. There were several arcs I didn't like as much as the others or downright hated (Deadpool, Morbius), but I think Superstars is the worst offender because of when it takes place. Watching Peter and Wolverine switch bodies may have been funny, but I wanted to see the reaction to Gwen's death.

Right now USM is my second favorite Spider-Man title behind Sensational. Bendis' work was definitely lacking fow awhile leading up to the Clone Saga but the current arc is great. Has it been revealed if Jessica will be sticking around in USM or moving to Ultimates yet?

Any of the Doc Ock stories are kick ass. Can't go wrong with Green Goblin's ones either.

I am on the Ultimate Six right now and I just subscribed to it so I have quite a ways to go to catch up. I have loved it though from the very beginning!

I agree with the poster above: skip the Morbius and Deadpool arcs. They aren't just mediocre; they're actually awful. The rest of the series is gold.

Just read up to Voume 6: Venom. Loving all of them so far, Ultimate Green Goblin is brilliant. Probably my favorite arc so far.

I've been wondering, however, if some of the later arcs are a bit strange and not really Spiderman-ish, if you know what I mean, as I've heard in some reviews. Any opinions on this?

I just wish characters weren't used and disgarded so quickly.

Having said that, after the somewhat messy Clone Saga, Marvel Knights has promise....Bendis + Kingpin is always good.

There have been complaints about the Deadpool and Morbius arcs, but other than those (which I really didn't have a problem with personally), all the later arcs are just as good, if not better than the earlier arcs IMO. The clone saga is kickin' ass right now too.
