    Default Batman Beyond

Are there any plans to bring Batman Beyond back? I remember really enjoying the show and collecting the comic books. I would go like every week trying to see if the comic book store had something new on him and then after a while the guy kept telling me the same and I just stopped going. I really felt that they had something with Batman Beyond. It's not like it's another universe, it's just a different time line. Maybe I'm solo here. Anyone else like Batman Beyond?

well i really like batman beyond and specially afther the justice league unlimited episode "epilogue" whe we found out that batman is like a clone of bruce wayne, but i think Tim Drake is a better sucessor of Bruce wayne, im not sure if his gonna turn out like in the Teen Titans Comic when they go 10 years in the future when his batman and kills people but i think it would be a better batman, or maybe after tim is batman Terry can be the sucessor, but it would be cool to have more episodes and comics of batman beyond

I liked Batman Beyond a lot but there were times where it felt like a DC Unicerse version of Spider-Man used to make commentary on Marvel Characters and comics by having weird versions of them in most episodes.

Batman Beyond was cool, but yeah, I prefer the idea that Tim is going to be the next batman. Although the Joker Retunrs (the movie) was awesome, I never saw that ending coming.

If they are going to make another batman series set in the future, I'd like to see a 10 years later type thing with all the batcast, ex. Tim as batman, Babs and Dick married, bruce and gordan could play chess with each other in the park:D

I liked BB. Personally, I prefer Tim not being the heir apparent to the cowl, either by something like ROTJ or just growing out of the role or becoming something else a la Nightwing.

This reminds me of something though. I make Casstoons (Check out the link in my sig) and one of the more recent storylines was where Terry came back in time to warn Cass about Tim turning into Joker Junior (Since Cass was pissed about the whole evil thing, she directed Tim to where he had to be and thus he now turns into JJ at random). But one of the thing I did was have Cass develop a huge crush on Terry.

And here's some cute art showing it

I didn't like Batman Beyond to begin with... but then it kinda grew on me. I began to like the idea of, someday, Bruce Wayne is going to get old and have to give up the mantle of the Bat. And I love how they portrayed a new Batman showing up.
    My only concern.....

Why in the Hell would they vote for Jim Gordon's daughter to be commissioner. She never showed any interest in becoming a police officer at all. True, she fought crime, but does being a masked vigilante make for a good campaign ?
Or did it go further along the lines of..."My daddy was Commissioner for a very long time, reason enough for me to be one" and everyone cheers and votes her in ?
Plus, she never once makes any mention of being Oracle. She has SEVERAL flashbacks of being Batgirl. Im guessing that particular storyline is void from the series.

I don't believe she ever became Oracle in the DCAU. I only assumed that after being Batgirl she joined the police force and due to her skills and talent she raised through the ranks. Due to her hardwork she became commissioner after years of service and success in large part due to her Batgirl training and experience. I doubt she got the job since her father was commissioner. It might have helped due to him doing a good job and people knowing her name but I like to think she earned it on her own merits.

There were plans in making her Oracle in the DCAU. Gail Simone's original story for "Double Date" was for Batgirl to be seriously injuried while working on a case. Batman forbids her to continue. She recreates herself as Oracle and she gets in contract with Huntress and Black Canary to finish her case for her. Thanks to the Bat-Embargo the story got canned.

I rented the box set for both seasons and watched them over the holiday. I thought that it was absolutely fantastic. I think it's the only version of the animated show that actually show cases what a truly exceptional man Bruce Wayne was.

Actually, for me it reminded me a heck of a lot of (Chuck Dixon's) Nightwing run. Chuck often wrote Dick like a more confident and less insecure of Peter 'Spiderman' Parker. Terry reminded me a lot Dick Grayson. He was smart but not a know-it-all or walking encyclopedia.

I can understand people wanting Tim to be the next Batman. But if they had used a teenage Tim Drake or someone like him. He would have come across as a Bruce Wayne clone. And it wouldn't be as interesting having two characters in the same show with the same personality. As it was, it was really fun watching Terry and Bruce play off each other.

I don't like BB not because he was a bad idea(someone new take the mantle of the bat) but Tim's villains(except Derek Powers) were not so impressive. That's why my favourite episodes are that with Mr Freeze and the return of the Joker movie.

Okay it's been a long while since I've seen them, but what about the electric guy or that guy who can walk through walls. That episode where he falls into the centre of the Earth is one of my favourate batman stories ever, in any medium. It aint as awesome as the movie, but it is still very very good, it has a kind of King Midas style moral to it.

Derek powers was a good kingpin-type villain, but I don't think he was plaid up enough.

Blight was pretty interesting as a villian as well. I like that right from the start he was Terry's big bad. That really seperated Terry's Batman from Bruce's. In fact all of Terry's villians had to be pretty different from Bruce's in order further seperate the two so he didn't come off as a clone or a person havng an easier time. Even with the new technology Terry still had the fight taken to him, just as Bruce did. At least that was my reasoning behind the difference in enemies. They also had to reflect the more advance world Bruce and Terry were currently in.
