    Default Midnighter #3 (Spoilers)

I got my books early, so I already read the issue. Figure I should make a thread about it.

    [SPOILERS]

Loved it. I've heard criticisms that this book is cliche Ennis, but fortunately for me I haven't read any Ennis save for Preacher.

In short, Midnighter fights the Time Police who prevented him from killing Hitler in the previous issue. He messes them up pretty badly, but is captured by the woman cop, who crushes him under the ship.

He's handcuffed inside the ship, where the Time Police start to head home and explain some of their methods. In that they apparently spend a lot of time stopping people from doing stuff like Midnighter was forced to do, and that "the paperwork takes longer'n the sentences half of 'em end up servin'..."

Midnighter breaks loose, wreaks the ship in April 1945 Berlin. For those of you not history buffs, that was the tail end of the War in Europe. The Russians are heading in, and Midnighter says "I've got to kill Hitler-- Before the bastard dies."

Quote of the book: "And play Wagner. Play it loud." followed up by Midnighter going "Pompity-Pom-Pom Pompity-Pom-Pom".

Lol Each issue has been exciting and fun as hell, and Midnighter is the type of person who will tear you apart if you even insult the guy. This was a fun issue and damn that chick cop was phycho in going after midnighter that I thought she would'nt succeed. I like her character already.

Midnight has got to be the coolest gay hero ever. I would'nt be suprised if he ran over old ladies that hold up traffic. More people should buy this book. How's it doing sales wise?

Holy crap that was some crappy non Sprouse art. Fine, he can't make the deadline and you need to fill in a few pages, but that's the best you can find in your rolodex? I heard it was tough to break into this industry, but apparently anyone with a pencil is fair game for wildstorm.

The art pretty much ruined it for me, but I did like the back and forth progressively bigger weapons a la Bugs Bunny.

Will they really still know what a rhino is in the 96th C.? I know, you're gonna say cloning and all that, but it is funny how contemporary these cops from the far far future seem.

The punchline is that the fill-in artist, Joe Philips, had been doing nothing but gay male erotica and humor for the past few years. I like his art, but this looked a little rush. Maybe it was a last-minute "we need you to draw 5 pages in a weekend" kind of deal.

I think they should make this a pattern. Like, for instance, the next time they need a fill-in artist they should get Patrick Fillion. :D

Well, not that crazy. Joe was originally a DC artist. Did the Timberwolf mini in the 90s, some Legion annuals, and the Superboy/Risk gay plus special.
