    Default Movie about Krypton

I don't know about you guys but I'd love for a movie to be made about Krypton's early history. It could focus on everything the Kryptonians did before their destruction & they could even show the beings that lived on Krypton before the Kryptonians became the dominant species. I'd like for it to be a three hour movie so that what's shown in the movie wouldn't seemed rushed & so that what's shown could be fully explained.

Well, here's my idea for the film:

We first get the credits & then there's a red planet. As the planet is zoomed in on, we see monstrous primitive beings that are fighting each other & some are killed whilst others live on by surviving their fight. Millions of years later, we see the first Kryptonians who resemble cave men. Then, we skip ahead another few millions of years where we see that the Kryptonians have made great strides in everything. We see the main Kryptonains that the film will focus on which are Jor-El, Lara's father, General/Dru-Zod, Jax-Ur, and Mala but of course a lot of other Kryptonians would be shown during the film. What happens over the course of the movie is that many things are explained such as how they get powers under a yellow sun & we also see some criminals get trapped into the Phantom Zone. Eventually we see General Zod, Jax-Ur, and Mala formulate a plan to seize control of Krypton but they do something to cause Krypton's destruction (accidently) upon which they are caught & are sentenced to the prison known as the Phantom Zone. Afterwards, we see Jor-El trying to convince everyone to evacuate Krypton but nobody believes him. He then sends his only son to Earth & we see the planet explode with the last part showing Kal-El's ship. Of course in the long run the movie would have a lot more to it but this is everything that I was thinking about at the moment.

I'd rather have a movie be made about it.

I mean a TV mini series. Say in four parts. That's four hours of story telling. You could really go into things that way.

That could be cool, especially if the series were to explore, in depth, several different eras in the planet's history and therebye combine several (if not all) of the different variations of Krypton seen in the comics into a single world.

That could work but it'd take at least a whole season to explore all of that which would be great. I'd love to have a TV series based entirely on Krypton.

Great idea. Something could be set up in the first segment that starts of the ticking time bomb that leads to Krypton's destruction. Some kind of experiment gone wrong or whatever.

It could culminate in General Zod's attempted coo, which ends in his capture and banishment into the Phantom Zone, and then of course the destruction of Krypton and Kal-El's departure.

The last thing we see in the series should be Kal-El's spaceship.

I'm a bit iffy on a Krypton movie, but I really dig the idea for a miniseries. I think it'd be cool if some new elements/events were added into Kryton's history too. For example, any wars, natural disasters, or Kryptonian criminals not mentioned in the comics before would be cool to see.

Nobody in the mainstream audience would be interested in a krypton movie if there's no superman.

True for the most part. But if you titled it something like "House Of El" or "World Of Krypton" and had the logo over the S shield in the background you could get by a lot of that. A few big name stars on the project would also help to get it off the ground. If you had the character of Superman appearing in the film, maybe have him go under some kind of hypno-regressive past life exploration as a set up to the story would also help.

Superman shouldn't have to be in it for it to work.

Only if it were marketed as a movie/TV series 'about' Superman.

However, it could instead be marketed as a sci-fi/fantasy movie/series concerning the life and death of a planet called Krypton, the rise and fall of Kryptonian society, with a heavy emphasis placed on the fantastic elements of each variation (era) of Krypton, and engaging characters & storylines for each era. Comic book fans, of course, would immediately make the connection and know that they were being handed yet another slice of Superman mythology. Mainstream audiences could draw their own conclusions, learning about the connection to Superman while following the show or by researching it online. ;)

I just don't think this would be economically sound for the producers of such a film/min-series. It wouldn't have a massive audience appeal, I would've thought.

I mean, just look at all the Krypton-related comic books out there ... (ok, I'm being sarcastic, I apologise, but the point remains valid ...)

(Mind you, I had my doubts about "Smallville" ... except, perhaps, that *does* have Superman in it ...)
