"Sensational" better than "Amazing"?

In nearly twenty years of collecting and reading comics I was never a big fan of any Spider-Man series. Nothing against the characters or creative staff, I think it just suffered from having too many titles and they always seemed to crossover. Growing up I never had the $$$ to buy two or three extra titles just to get a complete arc. I started collecting ASM around the time of the first movie and SSM since its inception.

Since Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa took over on "Sensational" I feel that his story telling as risen above what JMS has done on "Amazing". I enjoy both titles so I'm not by any means saying there is any evident quality issue with "Amazing". I don't know if it may have to do with what each writer is obligated to do in the context of "Civil War" or maybe just better overall writing.

I feel that RAS has an excellent grasp on the core characters of the mythos and is really doing a bang up job on the book. I know he had a run on MKFF and was supposed to replace Waid on FF until the public outcry got to Marvel.

So does anybody else feel that SSM has of lately been a better book that ASM?

I've personally enjoyed 'Amazing's' Civil War tie in tremendously, so I'm kinda on the fence on this one.

SSM's been okay, I think, but that's about as far as it goes. The "Deadly Foes" three-parter was fun, but not exactly meaty. I feel it lacks the fun of Friendly and the weight of Amazing.

I've only picked up the Clayton Crain Unmasked issue which was good but overall the combination of Medina's art alongside the stories that are just OK, Amazing and FNS are way better since they're tied to both Civil War which is like pretty important and The Other stuff alongside some great cast building.

For me right now Amazing and Sensational are tied with Friendly close behind them. I think that the three series just have different writing styles and so are liked by people differently. I think that both Amazing and Sensational are well written stories.

Sensational's good and fans enjoy it (its superior sales to FNSM prove that) but I'm enjoying Amazing more at the moment, and believe it will be better remembered in ten years.

at the moment i like sensational more than amazing and amazing more than FN. But that is always temporary. :)

Amazing will always be the best title as I feel the best stories have come out it. It introduces new villains now and again and the stories have more of an impact on Spider-Man continuity.

Friendly Neighbourhood is one of the most under appreciated titles at Marvel. Peter David is a top quality writer and has written some of the best Spider-Man stories. (The Death Of Jean DeWolff) It really does have an old school feel to it as well with the witty humour and a whole new supporting cast. Classic villains are brought back and used in new and interesting ways too.

Sensational is a really good title but honestly it's really more overrated than it should be credited for. How can this title keep getting better sales than Friendly Neighbourhood?
