Default I think GOTHAM CENTRAL is going to return

...and I think it's going to tell the story of how Harvey Bullock "saves the day" and exposes the GCPD's corruption, which then ushers Jim Gordon back as commish.

Given the recent hubbub about how Commissioner Gordon's return to the force was revealed with a brief (and disappointing to lots of readers it seems) one-panel shot in the latest issue of 52, it seems quite obvious to this reader that the full story is not meant for 52's pages but for another series - most likely, a seperate miniseries.

And dang it, just like THE SPECTRE and THE BATTLE FOR BLUDHAVEN, I think it should be CRISIS AFTERMATH: GOTHAM CENTRAL. And I wouldn't be surprised if Greg Rucka helmed it.

I'd like to think I'm reading a DC exec's mind as I type this..........please prove me right, DC. :D

I'd kill to have Gotham Central back as a regular title. One of the best books on the market over the last 5 years for sure.

I'd like to think that you're right about that.

And I'd also like for GOTHAM CENTRAL to then become an ongoing again, with Jim Gordon being the Al Giordello to GC's 'Homicide.' :D Man, I loved that book.

Bah; wishful thinking on the ongoing. But a mini telling the story of Gordon's return to the Commish role is a realistic possibility.

There was supposed to be a follow up series to G.C. called Streets of Gotham, but I think it was put on the backburner, or just incinerated all together.

Personally, while it could be a good story, I can do without it. I wouldn't mind at least a mini-series about Harvey Dent's time as Gotham's protector. I don't like that Two-Face was brought back so soon. I think DC should have waited a year or two. Harvey's too interesting a character to lose the way DC did. It could be about both Harvey's actions and Gordon's return.

I remember there was Warner Bros had plans of turning Gotham Central into a tv series. Whatever happened to that?

I don't think that went any further than the idea stage. Still, it's something I know I'd love to happen, but not on CW. FX or TNT would suit it more. But, that's going to be tough to allow.

And on those networks, it'd be quite redundant (FX has The Shield, TNT has Closer and the L&O's in syndication)...

Unless it went HBO ( :) ) a Gotham Central show would.......*gulp*.......have to go CW.

There is a way. Another network could make it, and I'm not sure how to put this, it's right there, but what could be the "house show."

It would work much better for a newer network, since everything there is still being tested, the format is always in transformation phases, but still, GC is a type of show that could work there, and also for some of the more established networks.

Then again, I'm always stuck on Cartoon Network. Meh.

I think then president Luthor arranged it.

It took me a while to figure out what you were talking about. I was thinking Bullock, not Dent.
'The marquis. Well, you know, to be honest, he seems a little bit dodgy to me.'
'Mm,' she agreed. 'He's a little bit dodgy in the same way that rats are a little bit covered in fur."

Was Luthor president at that time?

I remember he was knocked out of office in Superman/Batman, but the timing of these events escapes me.

GC the TV show... or a tv show based on the Wildstorm Universe "National Park Service" would be really cool.

I dunno if the NPS is still around in the WSU, with Stormwatch PHD seeming to take that place, but the concept was always cool to me.

In Wildcats 3.0 Agent Wax gets sent after what is basically Batman... who managed to kill himself and The Jester... I think. Anyway, the hint at Batman was great, and the concept always resonated with me.

    I'd watch either show.

Rucka wouldn't write that story. His GOTHAM CENTRAL run made it clear that Montoya was the only character he was interested in writing, and I'm pretty sure Rucka can't stand the Harvey Bullock character. He and Devin Grayson tried to kill 'im off at the end of NO MAN'S LAND, but Chuck Dixon objected (and was backed up by Denny O'Neil), so Sarah Essen kicked the can instead. Later, when O'Neil and Dixon were on the way out of the Bat-Office, Rucka helped author OFFICER DOWN, the story that led to Bullock's ouster. In a subsequent Newsarama article for GOTHAM CENTRAL that I am too lazy to search for, Brubaker was all, "I think Bullock should come back," and Rucka was all "he's dirty. He should never come back to the GCPD."

Anyway, back to the point. I would rather see the Akins/Bullock/Gordon storyline referenced in flashback in BATMAN and DETECTIVE. GOTHAM CENTRAL's too good a book to waste on "hidden stories."
