Well..seeing as how one issue only sprang up, I can see why there's nothing about it here, but what the hey? We need an Authority topic.
So what do you think about issue one? I think the art looks really neat.

I wish it would have been about the Authority instead of some guy we don't know and his trip in a submarine.
Almost seems like they are doing their incompetent best to kill off Wildstorm?
Yeah, the Feb. shipping date for #2 seems a bit absurd, but c'mon... it's the Authority. They're worth the wait.
Grant's Authority is really shaping up to be
(rest of this post is delayed until next July)
"You owe me nothing. But one day you will 'pay.'"
My friend Peter...the puffer fish...is calling me
I really hope submarine guy and his wife can work things out. Maybe they should try to have another baby?
What's the Authority?
Yeah, submarine guy is great. Who needs the Authority when you got him?
That's right! Al Gore invented the internet, let's all go kick his ass!
I got your inconvenient truth right here, motherf*&¨%!
Donald M.
mmm... all this talk about submarines has made me hungry... I'm goign to subway at lunch time... I didn't eat any breakfast this morning
Howdy, everybody!
Hey, I'm the colorist on Gene Ha's Authority issues (1-4). I'm finishing up the colors today and maybe tomorrow. I'm sure WS will get it out as soon after that as they can manage.
I figured some news on this front would be useful.
Oh, and the Authority itself actually appear in this issue! And they do stuff!
That's good to know. Did you finish #2, or 2-4?
Nice avatar, BTW.
Thanks!
Just #2 done for now. Here's my post from the current Morrison thread on this forum, pasted here for convenience:
Howdy, all. I thought I'd better chime in here. I'm the colorist on Gene Ha's issues of The Authority, and I think I can clear a few things up. None of this is said in anger or as an attack on any opinions or claims made earlier in this thread. Just trying to do my part...
Grant Morrison does seem to be overbooked these days. As a freelancer I can understand taking on as projects as you can handle and then some. Freelancers don't have a regular paycheck, and you never quite know when a dry spell will hit. That's probably less true for big names like him, but still.
I guess technically Gene is a slow artist, but if you're familiar with his work you can see why. It's not because he's kickin' back playing WoW or anything - he likes to "get things right" and he gives that everything he's got. This comes from his own drive as an artist and also a sense of obligation to, and respect for, the reader and fan.
As for me, I'm not fast either, but hopefully it shows in my work. I've been friends with Gene since the '80s, and his work is exemplary, so I feel extra-obligated myself to give his pages everything I've got. That said, I get pages from Gene in batches of 5-8 pages. As a colorist, I'm the last artist in the process, so when that last batch of pages for a given issue comes in to me, the pressure is on, but generally my work on that last batch is turned in about a week (okay, more like two weeks!) after I get them from Gene.
So, you take an overbooked writer, a pains-taking penciller/inker, and his faithful colorist...well, there you have it.
I don't know anything about the interdependency between when WildCATS and The Authority are released.
Issue #2 is done. I assume it will be out quite soon. Ken the deep-sea salvage expert is in it, of course, but the Authority themselves have most of the "screen time".
I posted a preview of sorts over at Chris Striker's Clark's Bar
So, I hope that helps clear things up a bit. #2 is bigger, brassier, and less blurry!

Thanks Art, it's good to have an insider's point of view instead of all this baseless speculation.
Now I guess our only concern is the rumour about Wildstorm holding Authority back to wait for Wildcats.
