Good Life ~ Inner City
I've loved this song for about 15 years (give or take), and have never been able to find it for sale in any store. It's also not on iTunes - at least in America.
Amazon does appear to have it; but I'm not going to spend $10+ for one song!
Civilly disobeying the law of gravity.
"Dreaming Of You" - The Coral
"Sweet Water Pools" - Screaming Blue Messiahs
"Lick your decals" by Captain Beefheart
- Art is whatever makes you feel human.
- "You are what you love, not what loves you." - Donald Kaufman
- "Deserve's got nothing to do with it." - William Munny
- "Acquiescence. It's not so hard, really. You. Just. Give. In." - Col. Ives
The Velvet Teen.
anything from Elysium of 'gyzmkid' on Cum Laude.
This band is awesome!
Gosh, a couple more:
"Apple of My Eye" by Ed Harcourt -- kinda like Nick Drake and Jeff Buckley if their music was driven by piano
"Emma Blowgun's Last Stand" by Beulah -- kinda like Wilco songs as performed by Built to Spill or Pavement
"Moya" by Godspeed You Black Emperor -- kinda like what cellists and violinists would be playing during and after apocalypse
"Your Star is Killing Me" by Chisel -- kinda like The Jam, Ted Leo (Chisel was his old band), shades of Thin Lizzy
"Academy Fight Song" by No Knife -- kinda like Jawbox, Fugazi, At the Drive-In
"The 15th" by Wire -- kinda like Brian Eno doing a Wire cover
"You Tore Me Down" by The Flamin' Groovies -- kinda like The Byrds and The Beatles
I recommend everything this band did. If you like the bands he listed, check out No Knife but, they don't sound like them.
Also, Burning Airlines' 'Mission Control' and Shiner's 'The Egg'.
Both on Desoto Records.
Admittedly, I should have said that No Knife sounds a little like fellow San Diego band Drive Like Jehu (also gone and not forgotten yet highly recommended), though they don't really sound like them either. Was fortunate to see No Knife a few times when I lived in San Diego. Great music.
Actually, since you brought up Burning Airlines, I should add that J. Robbins' new band, Channels, is pretty damn cool.
Haha... dig your handle, btw. Love that line for way too many goofy reasons.
Good shouts with "Dreaming of you" by the Coral and "Boy from School" by Hot Chip. They were both relatively big over here. However, if you're looking obscure, then try the following:
William Shatner's cover of Pulp's "Common People"
We Are Scientists' cover of Sigur Ros' "Hoppipola"
The Easy Eye All-Stars "Dub side of the Moon" (entire album Dub cover of Dark Side of the Moon!)
Kings of Leon "Milk" - not nec obscure but didn't get the mainstream recognition deserved of it
The Go! Team - "Huddle Formation"
And the biggest of all [B]A.M 180 [B] by the mighty Grandaddy
Btw, have you heard the version of "Common People" using the voice of Tom Baker? It's pretty darn great in a kitschy way.
