Default Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

Has anyone else play this yet? I brought the game yesterday and it's great. The controls take a while to get used to but they ain't bad. I think it sucks that there are no cinematic cut-scenes. The Ashley Wood drawn comic panels make for a good replacement but I still miss the cut-scenes.

I played it and its good so far. Story isnt bad. Im not very far though.

But hell its a umd. If they put in a normal amount of kojima cut scenes it would be on like 4 discs.

I'll be getting it pretty soon. All the reviews I read about it were really good. I may want to go back and play the other MGS games first (or at least just Snake Eater). I am anxious to see if they incorporate something with the PS3 into this game at some point.

I have it, it's awesome. I don't miss the overlong cinematic cutscenes at all. I think I prefer this style.

Great game, but don't get too attached to cutscenes.

For all the PSP games I own right now (about 10) all of them have cutscenes exactly like Portable Ops' with the exception of Monster Hunter Freedom's opening cut scene which is fully CG animated.

I played up the point where I can finally start recruiting soldiers, but I got side tracked...I'm now putting this game on hold until I beat both Metal Gear Acid 1 and 2.

I'm not really a big fan of the Metal Gear Solid series after Snake Eater's horrid camera and the horribly annoying substance and subsistance stuff (I hate when companies like this and Koei (Dynasty Warriors Xtreme anyone?) try to milk a single game entry), but the PSP front for Metal Gear Solid is totally awesome!

Does the game still have the CQC battle element? I really loved that part of snake eater and hope they keep it for other MG series (except for that crap camera angle from snake eater. Best I get subsistence to fix that)

Well I began playing Portable Ops only a few days ago, and I'm pretty surprised on how well the controls tranferred to the PSP.

Anyone hoping for a PS2 port shouldnt hold their breaths, this is specifically made for portable gaming.

"Missions" are incredibly short and if this was a consol game I'd actually be pissed about that, but it's perfect for on the go gaming. It wouldnt be worth a PS2 port, and I'd doubt that Kojima would waste the time.
