Anyone, hello? You guys drop the book already?

Another good issue, only one problem: Is it me or did the art suddenly get real bad towards the end? Like around the time the "angels" come in, it almost seems like a different artist...perhaps he was rushing because of deadlines? I dunno.

Oh and I LOVE that cover!
Church: So it is a sword, It just happens to function like a key in very specific situations.
Caboose: Or it's a key all the time, and when you stick it in people, it unlocks their death.

You're right, it does seem like the art dropped quite a bit in quality toward the end. Fairchild, especially, looks... off.. in several panels toward the end of the book.

Question: Was Roxy able to stop bullets like that in the original series? I don't recall, it's been too long since I read the issues (and I no longer have all that I used to own :( )

It was an ok issue. Probably the least satisfying of the three so far. The character interaction is good, but there's just something about this issue that just didn't work. Wasn't a big fan of the freaky Angel baddies either, especially the cupids/babies. And speaking of babies... what is with the head doctor's kinks being noted in every issue? Gail has him mention it so much, I'm afraid of where it's leading. Heh.

I picked this up today actually. It was a pretty decent issue, although not as strong as issue #2 I'd say. But still, I like how Sarah and Bobby are getting developed a lot more in this series. They actually have voices this time!

Question: how DID Roxy dodge the bullet? It never really explained. Hmmph.

As for the angel villains- LAME. I didn't like the bit at all. They were freakish and way too random for my taste.

Lastly, the art. Yes, and artist named Sunny Lee pencilled 6 pages at the end, hence the sloppy art at the end. Hopefully Talent can stay on task with this book and make deadlines in the future, because his art is really growing on me.

Overall, it was a decent issue. Not amazing, but not bad either. The cliffhanger was good though- I want to know who that man is!

She didn't really dodge the bullet. It seems that her TK powers created a shield around her body just as the bullet struck. So instead of penetrating deeper and doing more damage, the bullet was stopped with a great deal of force. Which is why the slug it's self was partially crushed. And then it appears she has a healing factor as well, as the wound had closed up fairly quickly afterwards.

Hmmmm, unless Gail has given Roxie new powers, I'm pretty sure she couldn't have done any of that. She's not telekinetic (well, not technically) and she doesn't have any sort of healing factor. Hmmmmmm.

    This is from wikipedia:
Freefall has the ability to manipulate gravity to various effects. She can nullify gravity beneath her allowing her or others to levitate. She can also increase the gravity around a specific area inflicting damage or just making it impossible for an enemy to move. This ability requires concentration and is exhausting to maintain for long periods of time.
Roxie can manipulate gravity, so I mean, its kinda of like moving things with her mind. So perhaps she manipulated the gravity of the bullet, making it heavier, and thus only grazing her.

I'll agree that this was my least favorite of the issues so far, but it was still fun. The speech with the preacher at the beginning threw me off a little.

The main bad guy is definately very creepy. With all the technology and resources at his disposal, there must be a disturbing number of very wealthy people backing his "work". The whole evil angels thing was fairly weird.

I don't know if I'm missing something from not reading the original series, though I'm still enjoying this.

I liked it, tho the last few pages did suck. I'm waiting to see how the whole powers thing develops, as well as NOT assuming everything is the same.

Does anyone know how long this run is?

I am seriously considering dropping this title. It is NOTHING like the original and is seriously lacking.

It's an ongoing. And -nothing- like the original is a bit harsh.

As in more tits and ass, plz? Then again, all female characters have some serious bj lips now.

Not a good issue by all means and not even better than the Lee/Choi/Campbell/Rio days, but there's way better character development at least so I'd say there's hope for the book to grow. There's a long way until they hit Arcudi/Frank-level though.

That's the problem: It seems too serious a book now. Back in the Lee/Choi/Campbell days (because the Choi/Rio run was just horrible) the book was FUN. Not shocking or bit of a thriller, just fun.

And we have a guest artist already? When I read the Sunny Lee guy's name on the cover, I thought he was on inks. When I noticed the art, I went back to the page with the credits, and there he was on pencils. Or maybe it's a she, Iunno.

Either way, I'm still waiting for this book to become as interesting as its predecessor.

I couldnt stand the Arcudi/Frank days, they just sapped the fun right out of the book and it never recovered.

I didnt come back til Lobdell/Benes (Now that was some fun stuff, "We'll take Manhatten" stil makes me lol, so to speak) stayed on through Warren/Various til the end.

No knock on the talent of Arcudi/Frank (cuz they are talented) but they were handed this hot title and it just sank like a rock. I've always felt they never "got it" and even though writers who did eventually came on, it was too late and the book just limped along til the end(enjoyable as it was)

I was a big fan of the original run, especially the Choi/Campbell days, but I did enjoy all the runs after that, especially the yummy Ed Benes art.

However, I truly am enjoying this new run quite a lot. The characterization is perfect so far, and the art is nice as well. I'm going to wait to give a final verdict once this first arc wraps up, but so far, so good.

Well, that's it, isn't it? Gen13, and the majority of Wildstorms titles, appealed to the brainfart generation who craved sexual innuendo, tits, ass and legs that went all the way up, which, by the way, can be mildly entertaining in its own right, but it's not healthy in the long run for a book. There are exceptions, but in those cases the t&a haven't played a major role and have rather been made fun of. Danger Girl is pretty much your average b-movie parody, for example.

Oh, the nineties... When will we recover?

Anyway, back on topic: Gail, didn't you used to write Deadpool? For crying out loud, make some wonders.
