He's not that old. I'm damn near as old as he is.

But anyway, this is Rick "Galloping Ego" Olney we're talking about. When you combine his inflated self-image with his cheapskate nature, the only possible outcome is that he will attempt to represent himself in court.

If he's as good a lawyer as he is a publisher, he'll probably get the chair.

Mac, when I said "old" I didn't mean as in elderly, I just meant for the most part at a certain age courts tend to have a bleeding heart, unless you've committed murder or some horrendous crime. Say the law says for fraud cases of this kind, the thing is 15-20. Already in his late 50s and not in the best of health, a lawyer could argue that putting someone in his condition in a state pen could be considered a life sentence.

Now if he DOES represent himself, the court may not give a damn because he's pissed them off so much. But you'd be hard pressed to see him get a lot of time, at most, if convicted, perhaps 3 or 4 years with an extended probation time.

I'm not going to respond to him, of course, but it's once again clear that he's talking without benefit of a lawyer.

It's not libel to express one's opinion, direct readers to a website where they can get details of a situation, and to caution readers against doing business with someone. All constitutionally-protected speech.

And, as I've said elsewhere and maybe even here, I hereby grant permission for anyone to repost my warning in the venues available to them.

I'm continuing to get grateful e-mails from folks who had not been priviously aware of Olney, so there remains a need to spread the word.

There will come a point, when he tries to sue EVERYONE IN THE WORLD, that he'll get to know the term "frivolous lawsuits" and won't be allowed to file them. When the judges have become familiar with all he has done, and all the evidence against him, he will most certainally be laughed out of court. Slander isn't slander if it's true. Again, you've made some very bold and untrue claims. The lines of opinion were crossed here long ago. So, as the various actions on my side of this move forward and one by one the 'fruits' drop off the lie and smear tree here ... we'll indeed see who was truthful and factual versus shooting their mouth off.

To be up front, I am one of the editors working on UNSCREWED. I have no horse in this race other than wanting to give creators who say they were not paid a chance to get thier work out. It has nothing to do with you, as a person, and despite what you may believe is not a "Come, let us mock Rick Olney" deal.

It is about raising money for those awaiting payment. If those people were paid, UNSCREWED would, I suspect, go away tomorrow.

Your opinion of me is your own and your right. But when coupled with online mob mentality and interlaced with ethic as to your cause for concern when this side of the matter doesn't concern or involve you ... far as I know ... then the ethic you're employing has been changed.
