Spiderman's new powers

So now that Spiderman was killed and reborn with new abilities, why doesn't he use them? He has night vision, more senses, stingers, and possibly more strength. It seems like most writers avoid or forget about these new abilities.
Unless i'm just missing out on whatever Spiderman book showcases his new powers? I only read "Amazing" and sometimes "Sensational".

The writers dont use them because the purist fans decided they didn't like all the new powers - which is actually understandable.

Chances are Marvel only wanted to give Spider-man biological web-shooters in the first place. However, in order to pass it by the die-hard fans they also had to give Spidey fangs, stingers, a basic empathy with spiders, etc with the sole purpose of really annoying the fans. That way, the writers could retcon the obviously over-the-top powers and still keep the new web-shooters as a "compromise".

It has all the signs of a classic sucker move.

There is like a million threads in which the new powers are discussed. Who really knows why they arn't being featured.

I pretty much took Madame Webb telling Peter that the Iron Spidey suit weakening his biological powers as Marvel's trump card to forget about them. I believe she said he was relying on the suit so much that his spider powers were dampening. Who knows. They may even use that excuse to have him lose his biological webbing.

They weren't dapening thoose powers, she ment his increased agility, increased spider sense etc. You probably can't feel stuff with your hairs through a liquid metal suit.

He popped the stingers in Friendly and Sensational while wearing the Iron Suit.

He has no trouble with webs wearing the Iron Suit.

Anyway the Iron Suit is now gone, so its a pointless discussion.

Also these are not the days when every superhero tells everyone their using their Heat Vision/Tactile Telekinsis/Spidey Sense/Strength of 100 men/etc.

I mean has he even been show somewhere he would need Nightvision since that one issue just after the Other? No cause he spends most nights in the Avengers tower with a naked Supermodel.

Same goes for the Web-sense, he has not been written into a position where it could be used.

He is back in cloth now, hopefully we will be shown the True Spider, the one nobody can hold a candle to in the agility or dodging.

Sounds like you are missing out. Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man uses and mentions the new powers more than the other two books.

It would make sense to have natural webbing, nightvision and whatnot... but stingers? I know that the excuse they made was evolution and that someday spiders "might" have stingers. I hope he starts using the new/enhanced abilities soon. I'm also excited to see him in the black suit again. Even if it is only a copy-the-movie stunt.

It's funny they said "someday"considering prehistoric arthropods such as eurypteridas that evolved into Spiders and Scorpions actually had stingers :rolleyes: It's not evolution if you take a step backwards. I don't mind organic webbing since it makes a lot of sense, but giving Spider-Man gigantic offensive weapons does seem pretty out of character for a friendly neighborhood spider-man.

I guess the closest thing to the stingers would be the characteristics of fangs on spiders such as tarantulas.

In my opinion spider man didn't really get that many new powers, he had the stinger when he was like half dead and used his life energy to save merry jane, and i don't think that they mentioned any other powers in the other, although in the new FNSM we find out that he knows there is this big ass cacoon underneath the church that just opened up.
