Default Ion: Guardian of the Universe #8

If I may ask here, Mr. Marz, where was Greg Tocchini this issue? Were the new artists just fill in? I absolutely love Greg's art and would cry if he doesn't come back for the rest of the series. Not that the new artists were bad, I just love Greg that much.

Also, thanks for this Ion story. Kyle's always been my favorite GL so I've really been enjoying the story. The final scene was surprising and interesting. I'm really looking forward to next issue with the Flash and the Atom (and hopefully Mr. Tocchini as well!).

This was a planned fill-in for Greg. Issue #9 is a planned fill-in as well, with Fernando Pasarin providing the art. Greg is back as of issue #10.

The new colorists, Richard and Tonya Horie, will remain on the book for the duration. Once you see issue #10, I think you'll find they "click" with Greg.

Thank you for clearing this up for me! Sounds good. The DC Solicitations weren't clear.

Not a posting about the specific issue...but I just wanted to comment how happy I am with the series. I don't know if I'm in the minority, but when I heard that Hal was coming back I was less than ecstatic (I seem to remember a Wizard poll that Kyle won out in, but I could be imagining that). I had a horrible feeling that his grand return meant that Kyle's death was iminant and on the horizon. I thought that he'd perish during the latest Crisis for sure.

Hal was never my GL. As a little kid, it was Guy and Kilowog in the JLA who were my favorites. Then when Kyle showed up out of nowhere after the excellent Hal going to the dark side arc, he became an instant favorite as well. I personally wish that Hal would have stayed dead...or at least away from Green Lantern-hood.

So, I'm incredibly pleased not only that he lives on, but also that Ion is such a great book with top notch writing and art. I admit that a part of me misses that Kyle isn't the one true GL anymore and that he isn't on the JLA. But, what I do like is the evolution of the character. I think it's the best everyman evolution to hero in comics since Spider-man.

Is that thing that the kids are arguing over at the end of the issuee the Green Lantern lantern from that Tangent Universe?
    If so, that's really cool.
Love those comic book universe crossover stories.

Yup. Look for a pretty significant dose of Tangent in the next issue.

Are there any plans for Kyle to be in any type of on-going comic in the future? Will he be a GL again? If you could write GL again would you use Hal Jordan who is already in the comic, or would you use another lantern?
Damn, thats like 3 questions, lol.

When Ion was first announced, Ron said there was a possibility that there might be a follow-up (ongoing?) series. So this raises an interesting question: now that Ion is nearing the end of its twelve issues, has there been any further discussion along these lines?

There are a couple of plans for Kyle once we wrap issue #12. But ... I can't tell you what they are. I can tell you that some bits and pieces of it are being set up in Ion right now.

Once all that goes down, there's been some discussion of a "season two" of Ion, but we'll have to wait and see what happens. Kyle's story definitely isn't over.

We R., if I were to ever write GL again, the decision as to which GL would likely be made by DC editorial. But the title's in extremly good hands for the foreseeable future.

Well thats definately good news! I look forward to everything and anything(almost) that happens to Kyle or will or wont in the future. I really dont wanna know right now, but hints help lol, worth a try. Hell if it wasnt for Kyle Rayner I wouldnt be buying any DC comics. He got me into GL. Your right though, I love Johns and I really dont want him to leave GL anytime soon. Sinestro Corps. are you kidding me?! Thats just great. Oh wait, Ion: Trades or Hardcover? Thanks a lot.

Hmm, well if there are plans, I guess we can assume that this cover of Ion #12 is trying to mislead us.

Kyle: *Pops out of the statue* "April Fools!"

GL Corp and the Heroes of Earth: " .... "

And thus does Kyle finally get a chance to put his Ion powers to a truly high-end test!

Are there any other Rayners besides Kyle cus it is funny how they cover up the first name.
