Steve, I'm reading an old fanzine right now called THE VAULT OF MINDLESS FELLOWSHIP from September 1972. It's got a nice Kirby cover and some good interior illos and features. The indicia reads, "Published quarterly by Wildwood Press, Ltd. Bruce Ayres and Steven Grant, editors and publishers."
(Faulkner was right. The past isn't dead. It isn't even past.)
(Funny VAULT OF MINDLESS FELLOWSHIP story. Was sitting reading something one day in one of the bookstores where we sold the thing. One of the clerks pointed me out to someone I'd never seen before, and the guy marched over in a huff.
"Do you publish this?!" he demanded, holding up a copy.
"Uh-huhhhh..." I said, tentatively.
"Well, I don't like it!" he proclaimed.
I wasn't sure how to respond. After a moment, again tentatively, I said, "Beeee... cause...?"
He folded his arms, straightened up, sniffed the air, and threw me a withering look. And said, "The title implies comics fans are mindless!"
I just gaped at him a few seconds, then said, "And...?"
He face did this twitchy thing for a few more seconds. He turned on his heel, stormed off, and I went back to reading my book.)
