What Comics should be collected??

Id like to see some more comics colleted in TPB form. Some that come to mind are Gerbers Defenders, some of the latter Marvel Team-Up and Two-and-One. And some more that slip my mind. Anything that you would like to see collected.

I'd like to see the early Superboy stories from More Fun and Adventure. Unfortunately, until the ownership rights are settled I don't see that happening.

I'd like to see more 50s-60s non-hero work collected: horror/mystery, romance, war, westerns. By the Big Two as well as other publishers.

Ideally in a package that selects the best stories (no need to be as completrist as in superhero collections) and has some kind of editorial discussion of the work collected.

But is there a market for this?

Also, I'd love to see a TPB of the Goodwin-era Warrens.

I was not aware of an ownership dispute.

I do have some vague memory of the families of Siegel and Schuster deciding they had a better shot at getting the ownership of Superboy rather than Superman, but didn't know anything serious was happening with this claim.

I'd like somebody to collect Marvel's Kull the Conqueror #1-10 showcasing the breathtaking art of Marie and John Severin (plus a terrific first issue by Andru and Wood). It wouldn't hurt if they tossed in the short Wrightson Kull story from Creatures on the Loose #10.

I would LOVE to see some of the Western/Dell/Gold Key comics from the past collected in nice editions. There are so many wonderful Dell series languishing in limbo. Here are a few suggestions for collected editions:

1. A Western collection featuring: The Lone Ranger (and associated titles); The Cisco Kid; Gene Autry; Wild Bill Elliott.

2. Western TV comics: Cheyenne, Gunsmoke, Rawhide. Dell's Zorro had some fine art by the underrated Warren Tufts, IIRC.

3. Kona, Monarch of Monster Isle. Sam Glanzman goodness and wacky, disturbing stories of mutated creatures in a lost land. Pairing Kona with the later Mighty Samson (Gold Key) would be a nice double-header. Frank Thorne art in the early Samsons.

4. Jungle War Stories. Short-lived series with exquisite painted covers. Lots of stories drawn by Sam Glanzman. Tales of the Green Beret would be a nice pairing with this title.

5. Ghost Stories. Fairly tame but often moving anthology book. Kind of a precursor to Gold Key's Boris Karloff and Believe it or Not. Every cover in this series looked almost exactly the same!

6. My favorite "plainclothes" superhero title of all time: BRAIN BOY!

I believe that as things stand at the moment, the Siegel family "own" Superboy, while DC hold the trademark on the character. DC is appealing that legal decision.

As to the wider topic:

Essential Invaders really should happen.

A Showcase of Ross Andru and/or Sekowsky Wonder Woman would be nice.

OMAC, The Losers, and Machine Man would all make for nice trades. As would Nestor Redondo's lovely Swamp Thing run.

This thread may have come up before, but no matter my answers are the same. First I completely agree with MDG. Specifically, a reprint of 50's Atlas horror material would really make my day. A compilation of Everett Venus material, also culled from Atlas, would be sweet as sunshine. And maybe most of all. An unexpurgated run of Kirby/Lee's Tales of Asgard... some of the most breathtaking Kirby work ever would make the classic comic heart skip a beat. I have much of it in the originals, but I'd definitely jump first in line to pick up a format which collected this exemplary material all in one place. The past reprint efforts have been poor reproductions and unsatisfactory.

ROK, what Allan Harvey says is true. Watch the Legion of Super-Heroes Saturday morning cartoon. You'll see it features Superman, not Superboy.

War That Time Forgot. Metal Men. Doom Patrol. All sorts of others already mentioned (most prominently, perhaps, Tomahawk). The various Marvel westerns. Sea Devils. "Failed" Showcase tryouts.

... Basically, anything I'm even mildly interested in & don't own/can't afford/don't have room for.
