Default Ultimate Superman DVD set has BIG mistake

    http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releas...r-blunder.html

Due to a massive technical blunder, the Superman III: Deluxe Edition discs contain the original 2001 release of the film, rather than the advertised disc with commentary, additional scenes and a vintage featurette.

Reports indicate that The Christopher Reeve Superman Collection and the individual release of Superman III: Deluxe Edition are unaffected. At this time there has been no word on whether or not Warner intend to issue replacement discs.
That's enough to make me wait a couple months for new versions of this to be put in stores. That sucks because I was all set to buy get this for Christmas. I'm quite pissed.

Eh. Yeah, they'll probably have an exchange thing, but (A) those things take time and I'm put off enough not to want to wait 6-8 weeks, and (B) I've not had great experiences with things like that and mail in rebates, etc. So I'll wait. It's not like there's any shortage of things to spend my Christmas money on this year.

I was actually thinking about going the "Alien Quadrilogy individuals" route by getting individual updated Chris Reeve Superman editions of Superman I, II, and the individual Donner Cut DVD. Then I'd get the Superman Returns SE or whatever unless the boxed set came with extra especial discs.

WillS will have missed the extras disc(s?) if he bought all the Alien movies seperately too.

So you're willing to wait months for something that could be fixed in weeks? ;)

I'll get it now, if for no other reason than the first week it's out is usually the cheapest. At least until some kind of major shopping holiday. But I don't think they'll have replacement sets out by Christmas.

I've heard lots of horror stories of replacement discs taking months and months to ship.

Like I said this was going to be what I spent my Christmas money on, but there's plenty of other new DVD box sets to choose from. I'd prefer to spend my money on something that's complete.

My birthday's in April. Maybe they'll have corrected sets in store by then. I can wait.

This is Superman 3 we're talking about... I'd have just used that and the Superman 4 discs as coasters anyway... ;)

    Yeah totally.

I mean c'mon folks, aside from that awesome evil Superman vs good Superman fight it's not exactly the best movie of the three and the best movies get the better treatment as it is.

I'm more interested in owning the special features on that Superman III disc than the movie.

I liked some of Superman III. Especially the whole Duality of Superman thing. But yeah, some of the extras on the Superman III DVD are great. A commentary, a bunch of deleted scenes, and the vintage 'Making of' special make it well worth a purchase. Besides, it's not pure crap like Supes IV. :)

I fail to see how they would enhance the "Superman III experience" but to each their own you gluttons for punishment.

    :p

Eh, I enjoy Superman III regardless of the camp value of some of the film. Superman IV and Superman Retreads are a hell of a lot worse than Superman III was. Shame really, I had hope for SR.
