Superman/Batman questions. Interested in following the title.

I'm thinking about checking out this title but have a few questions.

Does it take place along side current continiuty or does it take place in the past?

How is the title when it comes to being released on time? Delays?

How self contained is it? Could one follow it for example as their main source of Superman and Batman entertainment if they wanted and still be somewhat up to speed on these characters?

That is if it takes place in current time.

Or does it take a back seat to both Superman/Action Comics and Batman/Detective?

Are they always teamed up or will an issue focus on perhaps one of them and then the other the next time?

How is the overall quality when it comes to writing as well?

Are there TPBs for it out yet? Did it ever lead into Infinite Crisis the way other titles did (with the last page having the whole multiversions of the characters)?

The book is delayed often. Don't expect it to be on the shelf very 30 days.

They work together in every issue I read.

Are there TPBs for it out yet? Did it ever lead into Infinite Crisis the way other titles did (with the last page having the whole multiversions of the characters)?

TPBs of the series is available. If I'm not mistaken there are 3 of them right now (Public Enemies, The Girl From Kryption, Absolute Power). I'm not sure if the 4th is out.

Yeah it does take place in the present (with the exception of the S/B annual, which deals with their first team up together, and may/may not have really happened).

And in terms of self-containment, you can read it without having to be caught up in their own specific titles.

I recomend checking it out.

Is this the series that is written by Jeph Loeb? I have read the two first(?) issues of it, and it's a good book considering that it's Supes and Bats battling crime together. The art is fabulous in my opinion.

It takes place in its own continuity. Don't bother trying to fit it in w/the regular titles or your brain will melt into an oatmeal like substance.

Of course it seems like that, but the effects of the book are felt throughout the other books (Supergirl, etc).

Is this the series that is written by Jeph Loeb? I have read the two first(?) issues of it, and it's a good book considering that it's Supes and Bats battling crime together. The art is fabulous in my opinion.

Loeb wrote the first 26 issues. There is a different writer now, but it still is delayed. The artists change each arc. The first arc (Issues 1-6, and 20-25) was Ed McGuinness and Dexter Vines, issue 7 (self-contained story) was Pat Lee, issues 6-13 was Michael Turner, issues 14-18 were Carlos Paheco and Jesus Marin, issue 19 was Ian Churchill and Norm Rapmund (also known as Supergirl 0) and issue 26 had a lot of others working on it (Sam Loeb fund issue).

It has kinda it's own timing, but at points, it catches up to "current."

As mentioned, this title has often been late (but worth the wait).

Hmm. Yeah, I think so.

I actually like S/B over the Super titles. The Batman titles are sometimes better, but I think S/B might still beat them out.

This hasn't happened yet. It's really about the team-up of the 2 greatest Heroes of all time.

The majority of Loeb's run rocked. He totally grasps the characters and conveighs a great brotherly feeling to the duo. Verheiden has done a good job on the writing, but his story has been a little less S/B focused.

Yes, there are a number of TPB's out, and it might be a good idea to pick up the first 2 especially. To me, they're the best ones.
