Default Which Japanese author/artist/director would you like to see in a Superman project?

I heard Batman has had a couple of stories written by japanese guys.

It would only be fair that Superman got his chance, too. No matter in what form of media: OVAs, movies, TV series, manga...

So, what japanese authors would you like to see involved and why? Go Nagai? Katsuhiro Otomo? Mamoru Oshii? Ayao Miyasaki? Shinichiro Watanabe? Daisuke Nishio? Toshifumi Kawase? Tomohiro Hirata? Oh Great? Akira Toriyama (please no)? Takahiro Umehana? Atsuko Nakajima? Kia Asamiya?

I dunno about Superman but I wanna see Rumiko Takahashi write Supergirl!

    Desperately!

The support characters she would come up with alone would be worth the price of admission :D

I'm not too educated on all the Japanese writers/artist/etc, but I am slightly curious on how a Superman anime would look. Manga too.

Well, for one he would have to scream "Deadly Rising Lotus Leaf Move" before unleashing his heatvision.

Miyazaki, although i'd rather see him do a SHAZAM! movie.

I know he loves animating flight - here's a chance to do superpowered flight.

I wanted to say Miyazaki, even though his body of work is nothing like typical Superman fare. It'd probably be awesome though--he'd probably draw from the awesome old cartoons and make Superman look like he was really putting effort into everything.
In fact, looking at his older stuff, he'd be awesome in Superboy.

A Shazam animated feature would be teh awesome, no matter what (reasonably appropriate) minds were put to the task.
And speaking of manga, there was a mini called "Marvel Mangaverse" in which the other of the Big Two gave esteemed manga-ka the chance to reimagine classic Marvel characters. I remember thinking that Iron-Girl was pretty hot in the armor, and Mister Fantastic was much cooler than usual.

Holy crap, Miyazaki on a Shazam movie? The world doesn't deserve that; we haven't been good enough. :)

Exactly. Me too. That's why I opened this thread. I'm pretty certain that japanese would tweak more than one thing, besides the aesthetic part.

I agree that his work is not the ype of work we'd like to see with Superman, but the imagination that man has could make for some pretty interesting plots.

Yes. I'd like to see that in DC.

Hopefully, Dan Didio and Paul Levitz are reading this...
