Default Civil War #5 review (spoiler free)

    Hey gang,

Pipeline will be updated this afternoon with my review of CIVIL WAR #5. It's spoiler free.

This is the quickest turnaround EVER from the time someone dropped a PDF file in my mail box to the time I wrote and sent CBR a review. heh heh

    You and your industry connections!

I'm still amazed at how much I have been enjoying Civil War. Even more than House of M, it has rekindled my love of the Marvel Universe and I can't wait for the titles (Mighty Avengers being chief among them) that Joe Q has been hyping for months for the post-CW MU.

The review is now up at the top of the Pipeline column. http://pipeline.comicbookresources.com will get you there.

Yeah, it's a giddy good read, this issue. And I do think it might be the best art from McNiven thus far, just in that he gets to draw so many cool characters.

This is just a good Pipeline day -- wait till you hear the podcast tonight. . .

AAaaaarrrgghhh - just read the review. Even with it being spoiler free (which is how I like it), tomorrow can't come soon enough! Popcultureshock had a preview up this morning (which I'll admit I was going to take a peak at), but it has already been taken down at the request of Marvel.

Do I need to have been reading Amazing Spider-man to follow what is going on? Should I bother picking up the last few issues, or will I be okay without it?

You don't NEED to read AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. There's a couple of lines of dialogue that neatly sum up how Spider-Man got to the point he's at in the beginning of the issue.

That said -- I think it does flesh out the story an awful lot.

Trip - Yes, I did. But I get weekly shipping so I don't have to wait long. I probablly wouldn't hit my comic shop today anyhow, because I was just there on Friday and it's in Boston (near Fenway Park) and I'm in Waltham which is 20-25 minutes away. Then I have to drive back out to Norwood, where I live.

Every Tuesday I get an email from DCBS that a label has been printed up to ship a box out to me with a tracking #. The boxes usually arrive on Monday afternoons. So all I have to do is be careful on the news boards and I'll make it!

OK - now that's a haul just to get to your LCS. If that's the case, then I can understand your love of DCBS.

One thing is for sure, the transit time between IN to MA and IN to CA is much different. I still use DCBS for some stuff, but it sometimes takes up to 1 week to get my box of goodies.

Btw, Civil War #5 was really good and that's all I'm going to say about here in this thread!

Yeah, I've gotten things as fast as on the THURSDAY after they arrived on Wed! How, I have no idea. Once I forgot to check off the "Weekly Shipping" box and nearly had a convulsion waiting so long. But it was cool getting a GIANT box at the end of the month.

Ooooo........ you tease me.... BAD TRIP! VERY BAD!
