Thumbs all the way up, Ross. So, how do you get the notion of where must shadows go? Is it all pictured in your mind? You have some sort of simulation software? I try to picture how things would look like in my mind, but things don't end up being what I had imagined...

Well, that's what used to happen a long time ago, when I drew regularly. It's been a long time since I last took a pencil to that end.

I try to use the lineart as a guide. You can usually tell by the line weights and where the artist has placed the shadows, where the light is coming from. If the lines are real basic and don't give you much of a clue, just pick one (or more) that makes sense and try to stay consistent with it. Practice and patience, my friend. Lots of each.

I've had this in my stash for a couple of years now, but never felt ambitious (or skilled) enough to tackle it. I figured with some extra time off from my day job for the holidays, that now would be a good time to see what I could do with it. C&C's would certainly be appreciated.

Thanx for the awesome tip, Ross. I'll keep it in mind. There's this CBRDraw thing running here, so I've been wanting to give it a shot. Perhaps I will. After all, the contests never close.

As for the drawing, awesome. Loving how the wires have different colors each. You were careful here, and it shows. Sometimes one can see mistakes when looking at these drawings (a wire with a color in one segment, and another in the next, etc.), but not here.

    Thanks!

That's a big reason why flatting it was such a nightmare. I ended up changing the linework in a couple places to ensure that the wires didn't just appear or disappear where they weren't supposed to.

I had this drawing commissioned for my wife's birthday. I ended up staying up all night to get the colors done in time, but it's totally worth it for how much she's going to love this.

    Happy Birthday, honey!!!!

Thanks. It was a lot of fun to do. Especially for who I was doing it for. =)

Along with the pages for issue #6 of Fallen Justice, Cary sent me some promo stuff to work on as well. I'll post some more of them when I get them finished up. I'm already noticing a problem with the glow around Prometheus' arm. I'm thinking that happened when I converted to CMYK. I'll fix that and repost, but in the mean time, I'd love to hear what you have to say about anything else.

Okay, I FINALLY got everything situated with my new computer and was able to update these a little bit.

I dropped the sat level on the tail end of the jacket in the first pic and brought out some more light in his arms and shoulders to help break that up a little bit. Also added a whiter highlight to the underside rimlight to help him pop out even more.

I added some rimlight to Justice Theta.

I fixed the glow in the Prometheus pic, and played with my color holds on the background rocks so that it didn't look so plain.

I'm moving on to some new ones this evening, so hopefully I'll have a couple more to be able to post tomorrow.

Ha! Harold and I got our wires crossed on a couple of the characters. Too late for the pencils and inks, but never too late for color! Oops!

Took a little break from Fallen Justice to color this one up. Harold and I are really starting to find our strides together, I think.

    Default Fallen Justice Page

I'm getting ramped up on issue #6 of Fallen Justice, so I thought I'd toss a page up to see what people think. I'll post some more as I get further into it.

    C&C's always appreciated.
