I took a short break from the book I'm working on to color this in anticipation of the film. I can't wait for this.

I've got a little down time while I'm waiting for some new pages to come in, so I've been trying some speed coloring. Well...speed for me anyway. This took me about 3 hours or so from start to finish.

very dynamic colors
compliments perez's work very well
Me likes. The colors are vibrant, and the background really transmits the sense of conflict between those two.
... The Master Of Puppets has spoken.
Goodbye León (november 16th, 1993 - june 12th, 2009). You were, are and always will be the best friend I ever had. I will always love you and never forget you. And please, please forgive me.
Thank you for teaching me about love, patience and caring. Rest in Peace, my friend. I hope that wherever it is you are now, you can run and play as much as you want.
I found out about the 100 Artists Project late last week and even though I haven't picked up a pencil to draw anything of substance in over a decade, I decided to throw my hat in the ring. This is what I came up with. Feel free to tell me that it's complete crap. :D
For those of you interested in the project, information can be found here: 100 Artists Project Website There is a loose deadline to have things mailed by the 30th, so there isn't much time to get things in, but for those that may already have something to submit, it's definitely worth checking out.
Basically, they want 100 artists to submit a drawing that will be bound in a sketchbook and auctioned off. Proceeds will be donated to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and the Hero Initiative. All artists who submit a drawing will then be placed on a mailing list and a single sketchbook will be sent to each artist to do a drawing in, which will then also be auctioned. It's a great idea for a great cause, so if you can support it, please do so.
Also, if anyone is interested in inking this for me, I'd be happy to send you a hi-res copy to work with. Just let me know.

Did a quick collaboration with Harold Edge on this pic while I was warming up for the second half of Fallen Justice #2.
After taking a day away from it, I can already see that the hair is too saturated and I need some stronger highlights on the gloves and boots. I'll have to get that fixed. What do you guys think though?

nice picture!! :D
i figure it's about time I had my own art thread. Why not?
A bunch of us colorists have decided to get together to put together a tribute book for Mike Wieringo with the proceeds from the sale of the book going to a charity of Mike's family's choice.
This was the cover to Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman #13 originally colored by Paul Mounts. I'm hoping to find the time to finish a Fantastic Four Promo Poster that Mike did as well in the next few days. I'll post that when I get to it.

Here's a couple other pictures I colored over the weekend.
The first is a pic I colored as part of an open call for colorists in the Wildstorm Productions department of DC Comics. I'm not holding my breath, but I'd LOVE to get a response from them.

The second is the cover to the upcoming Mysterious Visions Anthology #7 from Dimestore Productions. The cover features a book I'm working on the side called Wannabez. It's about people that believe they've been given superpowers. Whether or not they actually have them remains to be seen, but it'll be a fun ride to find out.

I did this to kill some time in between jobs. I had wanted to give sort of a parting gift to this book on my way out the door to another project, so when the artist told me that this piece wasn't going to be used, I figured I'd try to change the creator's mind. This was my first real experiment with secondary lightsources, so any help or advice would certainly be appreciated.
I had originally had a the light in the back much brighter, but it took away from the characters in the foreground, so I toned it down. Taking a second look at it though, I think I toned it down too much.

I was sent this character pin-up so that I could work up the color scheme for him. He'll be a villain in the Fallen Justice mini-series that I'm working on. I figured a character shot would be as good a time as any to take my first shot at the cut-&grad style. So, what do you think? What do I need to work on? I liked the experience and am pleased with the results, but I'm sure I'm missing something, so let me have it.

Rather than doing a warm-up piece, I did a cool down piece last night. Took me about an hour. Just trying to get some more practice with metal and lighting. I love the intensity in this picture.
