I think this is the guy from Scry-ed, right? what's so great about him? I've only seen 5 or 6 episodes and I just haven't been that impressed with him.

Only thing I can tell you is to keep watching. And when you can, read the manga adaption of the show.Originally Posted by Totoro Man

The Insanity of Sasuke Uchiha
The No-Life King was both shocked and enraged when he eventually made his way outside and found Seras sparkling in the sunlight. “Police Girl, what do you think you're doing?!” Alucard bellowed, causing Seras to emit a surprised 'gasp'. “Stop that this instant!”
“Oh... M-Master, I-I was just... just...”
“You were sparkling!!!” Alucard shouted.

Eh, I suggest just reading the manga for various reasons. I suppose one of the reasons why Kazuma deserves some credit is his sheer willpower, especially in the final fight when he's just getting butchered literally.

I dunno, maybe my problem might be just watching some of the obviously later anime episodes where I couldn't really find myself rooting for Kazuma OR Ryuho. (the blue-haired snooty guy, right?)
Yeah that's Ryuho.
Kazuma is your typical tough cocky guy rebel, wanting to do things his way,
but showing deep dedication to those closest to him.
The guy's pretty much the epitome of the shonen hero type (sometimes I think it borders on parody), so if you like that kind of thing I can see why he'd be popular...
I for one view him as a bada**. Of course, he 's nowhere near Cougar in terms of coolness.Originally Posted by Totoro Man

I agree that both are quite awesome, though strangely I always liked manga Ryuhou the best. No matter what happened, he was just always an arrogant asshole from beginning to end, unlike many other stories (and the s.CRY.ed anime) characters soften.Originally Posted by Guy1

Oh please. That type of hero has been done to death in anime. The "glutton for punishment" persistent hero who always wins in the end theme just annoys the crap out of me. In the real world, being persistent only means you get your ass kicked twice as hard. There's no miraculous comeback, no sudden burst of strength that turns the tables, or anything like that. Just a hospital trip or a funeral, your choice............... (sighs) Okay so that was somewhat of a rant.Originally Posted by master of read
ah, so somebody else shares my boredom and annoyance for THAT kind of character too. having seen more of the show, for some reason, I just like Ryuho more... or respect him moreso. can't explain why, exactly.
Somewhat? people in the real world don't have superpowered arms that react to their drive to live. If they did then you'd see it in the real world. You might as well say your sick of all fiction devices/powers because they do things people don't do in the real world.Oh please. That type of hero has been done to death in anime. Yeah I give up. They would need like a bajillion UNs to take it out. And they would all have to work.
All I wanna know is...did manga Kazuma survive an evisceration due to "Treasonous Thoughts"? Did he survive something that should have killed him because he rebelled against the thought of death?
Because if thats the case, then I can't like that character under the grounds of the reasoning being one of the dumbest I've read out of any comic book.
The part about persistence not paying off in the real world is kind of an overstatement, but yeah that type of charatcer is pretty typical in shonen action series. Like I said what makes Kazuma different is that he does it to the extreme, sometimes to the point that it almost seems like parody.Originally Posted by nervmeister
You're applying Real life(where superpowers are nonexistent) to fiction(where it's a basic commodity of everyday life)? You speak bloody witchcraft sir! (either that, or you have yet grasp the concept of what fiction is). Besides, without persistence, of course you won't get anywhere in life; that's what Kazuma basically epitomizes.Originally Posted by nervmeister
As for Ryuho and Kazuma, I'll take determination, passion and clout over pathetic broodiness and stoicity anyday(I personally liked Ryuho better when he was amnesiac).
