Default *Nods to Paki* Proposals for Superman/Marvel crossovers

    Well, there you have it.

What character from the Marvel U would you like to see in an adventure with Big Blue and why? What villain should they fight?

Personally, I'd like to see Superman and the X-Men, fighting something big, like Thanos or perhaps some sort of evil Alien Armada.

I wouldn't mind if Superman kicked the X-Men's collective asses in the way, though.

I'd also like to see Superman teaming up with The Avengers. Perhaps fighting Darkseid.

Anyway, in short, I'd like something really, really epic, with lots of action, in a larger-than-life plot, showing the Marvel guys why Big Blue is the best (yeah, I'm such a fanboy...)

Superman and the Fantastic Four versus the villainous duo of Lex Luthor and Victor Von Doom. But that's less about Superman and mostly so that I can get the supercool Lex/Doom teamup. :D

A modern Spiderman / Superman teamup would also be great and you could go in any number of directions with the villain or opposing force that would bring them together. Given that they're arguably the most iconic & recognizable of their respective companies (with Batman and the X-Men arguing it, I'm sure), another team-up between the two is a natural.

Oh yes. I had forgotten about Doom (shame on me).

I agree, the Luthor/Doom duo would be extremely neat. I'd also like to see which one would stab the other in the back first.

As for Supes and Spidey, that would be cool. Perhaps a horde of villains from each character's gallery acting together, a la Society? The Luthor/ Kingpin combo sounds good...

Superman and Sentry would be cool. It'd be a good opportunity to compare the two powerhouses, Supes being the Idealic hero, while Sentry is the more flawed down-to-earth type.

I would LOVE to see Superman and Magneto throw down and contrast their viewpoints on the world, but alas someone would have to come out with plot-induced stupidity for the fight to last any longer than two panels.

I like Spider-Man, really I do, but he fits more in a Batman storyline than with Clark. I don't know that those two characters would play off one another terribly well.

What WOULD Doom think of Lex Luthor, anyway? It'd be worth seeing, but Doom is generally a villain for the entire Marvel Earth more so than just a Fantastic Four nemesis. He was, after all, the enemy in the Spider-Man crossover in the 70s.

I almost wanna say Thor, because there's an easy hook with that thousand-years-with-Diana storyline that nobody likes, not to mention Asgard apparently being put back together in an agricultural area, but that'd just come out really strange - plus all the magic involved would make him really useless.

The Sentry doesn't strike me as down-to-earth. He's something else - spineless and whacked out of his brains.

We must put him with Deadpool.

LexCorp CEO/US President Luthor is a pretty comparable analogue for Doom, in that he's a mix of political prowess and intellectual supergenius who is an enemy to Batman & the JLA also, as opposed to just Superman's nemesis. That's why I thought they'd be such an interesting pairing, with their strengths (genius-level intelligence, vast amounts of money and political power) being similar and both seeing themselves as the 'heroes' who are doing the world a favor by ascending to positions of power to rule others.

Was Parasite the DC villain who paired up with Doom in the 70s Supes/Spidey crossover? I can't recall for some reason; been a while since I've read it.

I agree. That's a good idea I hadn't thought about. Who would you like them see fighting against?

I agree. Magneto and Superman have two completely different views on the world. One completely pessimistic, and the other optimistic.

I like Spider-Man, really I do, but he fits more in a Batman storyline than with Clark. I don't know that those two characters would play off one another terribly well.
Perhaps. However, I'd like to see them together just for the hell of it. Who knows? It could be really good.

What WOULD Doom think of Lex Luthor, anyway? It'd be worth seeing, but Doom is generally a villain for the entire Marvel Earth more so than just a Fantastic Four nemesis. He was, after all, the enemy in the Spider-Man crossover in the 70s.
However, they seem to be at the same level, their scope of action notwithstanding. Both of them are geniuses. Evil geniuses.

I almost wanna say Thor, because there's an easy hook with that thousand-years-with-Diana storyline that nobody likes, not to mention Asgard apparently being put back together in an agricultural area, but that'd just come out really strange - plus all the magic involved would make him really useless.
Hmmmm... I think it would be worth seeing, taking into account the thousands of threads debating who would win a fight between them. However, it should have more than that. A comparison between their legacies, their ways of thinking, and ultimately joining to defeat a greater evil.

The Sentry doesn't strike me as down-to-earth. He's something else - spineless and whacked out of his brains.

We must put him with Deadpool.
Is that so? What's the craziest thing he's done?

Yeah. I think it was The Parasite. I'm 90% positive.

And yes, that's what I was thinking about a pairing of those two. Hell, that would be undescribably great.

Here's where I think the Luthor/Doom team hits a snag. Luthor is out trying to help humans actualize themselves fully, removing Superman, their "crutch" - Doom essentially looks to be the crutch, conferring success on others through his own genius and denying them freedom. That's why I don't suppose they would be the perfect team - but perhaps that lack of cooperation might be what would make it awesome. Maybe if we had Supes and Magneto up against them...?

It WAS the Parasite. He wasn't so much a co-villain as a pawn, though. The storyline was that Doom created for him a harness that would allow him to contain all of the power that he leeched. Parasite then went off and leeched Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, and to an extent the Hulk. Doom wanted him to leech all of the power of Superman, which would overload his system and turn him into a crystal. This Parasite-crystal would then be used in some doomsday device or other. However, the Parasite's Spider-Sense went off at the critical moment while Peter used his webbing to undo a particularly clever Kryptonite attack (a particle beam embedding Kryptonite dust in the pores of Superman's skin).

Hey, now THAT's a cool idea! I'm sure it would have comics laymen and marketing people scratching their heads ("But..but Magneto am bad guy!! Why he team with Superman?"), but the right plot by Doom & Luthor, perhaps enslaving or harnessing the powers of the mutant population for their own purposes, would create a scenario for a Supes/Mags teamup. Certainly haven't seen that combo before.

Hulk v Doomsday. That could be good, honest. No it could. No? OK. What about Venom turning up in Gotham? Batman takes him down after a good old fight or two, and running parallel to that, we could have Joker turn up in Spidey's New York. So the Villains swap universes but the heroes don't.

Bah, since when have marketing people known what to do with comics anyway? Outside of making a movie and selling toys, but those are bloody obvious.

If I was ever given the chance to write a single comic story, any comic story, it would be Superman versus Dr. Doom.
