hey, Ive only just started reading ultimate spiderman in the last year or so (Im a bigger fan of the Spiderman comics from the 80's), and Ive started collecting the issues recently. I have 1- 48 now, but I recently found some special edition version of number 1 on ebay and was thinking about buying it. However Ive never seen this one before and know nothing about it.

That's the Dynamic Forces alternate cover, limited to 2500 copies. It's a really cool cover image that was re-used on the Payless Shoe Stores variant cover of issue #8, which is pretty valuable itself. Near mint, this cover can go for a couple hundred dollars, but the guy in this auction gives no professional grade and only says he thinks it's in excellent condition, so check the scans and judge the quality for yourself, but be careful. If you want the cover, I'd personally make sure to buy it off someone who has a real grade listed.
Also, I forgot to mention, it's signed twice, so if that's the kind of thing you're interested in obviously its value goes up.

On top of that the seller only has 3 comments on him. It can be risky buying anything from someone with such a small amount of feedback.
This is only something you should get if you really like collecting everything from a series. If you are just buying because you enjoy the series but you don’t care about cover variants you can easily skip this one.
