Default Spider Man after CW: Wizard CW Room 11/1/06

Did anyone else read this? It gives me a lot of hope for new stories for spider man. Given I hated the fact they unmasked him, it says he will be back in the black costume for a while. Does this mean they are going to make a black costume for him, or is he getting the symbiote back? They also pretty much said he will be running from Tony and Pro Regs, but me I just want CW to end, even though I am loving the story, it is jsut getting to drawn out. But after CW, what do you think will happen?

Here is a link to the site, if you want to read it.

    I read it....

Interesting, more hints that a character will die....

It's great to see Spidey in the spotlight of the marvel universe again!

"Peter’s life is about mistakes. It never goes well. The little moments go well, but the bigger ones don’t,” explains New Avengers writer Brian Michael Bendis of the underlying ethos behind Marvel’s most popular icon.
I like this summation. People bitched and moaned their head off about Spider-Man becoming an Avengers and having too good a life, without realizing that it wasn't going to last forever.

The higher you soar, the harder you'll crash and burn.

It would be just like the Ol' Parker Luck to give him a taste of stardom and acceptance, only to yank it all away and have him become a fugitive and his family targets. Possibly even a pariah among super heroes, if the anti-reggers decide they don't want anything to do with him.

He's had a black costume for a long time. Black Cat made one for him after he lost the symbiote because she liked the look. Peter hasn't worn it since he lost his costume during Mackie's run.

I'm not sure I like the direction their going with this. I guess I should have seen it coming, though. Peter will become a wanted man. So much for being the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. He can't hardly be that if he doesn't have a neighborhood. That makes me wonder. Did anyone ask Peter David? It seems to me that he should have more input on this subject than Millar.

It looks like Peter could be about get the worst sort of luck in his entire life.
From now on we're poison to you Spider-Man. That's why we call ourselves... VENOM!!!

“He may find support in unlikely places,” says Straczynski of Spidey’s new challenge. “But he’s also going to be on the run, subjecting MJ and May to conditions that he might not like. After living in luxury in Stark Tower, to be on the run [and] going from one dive to another is going to be a guilt-inducing experience for Peter. They did what they thought was a good idea at the time, and certainly if anything happened to him as a result, they’d be devastated. Which means,” Straczynski concludes ominously, “it’s something we kinda have to do.”
Okay, first of all, how many people did NOT see this coming. Heck, the idea of Spidey being a fugative from the law is part of his being a misuderstood superhero which is a big part of who he is as a character. And while I say that I am pleased Marvel is going back to this concept, I do have problems with the way it happened. I mean, as others have pointed out, Spidey knew full well that when his identity was learned by villains, such as the Green Goblin and Venom, that it placed his loved ones and those who knew him in jeapordy. And yet, because Tony gives him a shinny new suit and Aunt May tells him the whole "people will respect you more as Spider-Man if they knew who you really are" when of course the public would only see him as Spider-Man, public hero or menace REGARDLESS of who was under that mask, well you'd think Peter would have learned from experience and not willingly unmasked. Then of course, there's the question as to how to get out of this situation, considering how Peter's life is a series of ups and downs; but, short of mindwipe (which it seems more people are actually considering) it looks like Marvel placed him into a pretty deep hole. Sure, I can understand what they are trying to do, but their way of getting there may cause too many long-term headaches.

You know I SAW THIS COMING the moment he unmasked himself, that is after the self-denial of it coming true. :(

If this is to occur for him to regain his "Parker Luck" back then okay, I'll try to accept this. :(

I have to agree with whoever mentioned that Civil War needs to end already. It's going to be a year since the Road to Civil War itself started and here we are till reading the first four books of a seven part series because its assumed issue 5 comes out next week.

With that said, im very very disappointed that Marvel cannot keep it's mouth shout liek TNA with the unveiling of Kurt Angle. Here we are about 3 months before Civil War is over and we are seeing the images of Alpha Flight, before we see the book. We are hearing about the black costume and spidey being on the run from the law. We are getting alot of "could-be's" with the whole Cap America lives or dies, and we already saw the very Pro Reg lineup of Mighty Avengers. So why is marvel still making us wait for Civil War 5, 6, and 7 when they are pretty much giving us the future stories anyhow?

I'll be Frank. I don't think they have a clue of what to do with Spider-man next year just like they didn't know what to do with him the last couple years. He turns into a SPider... thing. Get's new powers. He APPARENTLY dies... get's new powers they never use. He's lost his identity to a giant out of control crossover.

His Unmasking was a non-event. I mean it was NOTHING!

I can't even bring myself to read the Loeb/Campbell thing, whenever that will come out.

Not that I'm aware of, but we all eagerly await it. :)

(As long as Jenkins doesn't write it)
