new Hammerfall CD...

i was must be slipping in my old age because i wasn't even aware that Hammerfall has a new CD coming out this year, whereas for last year's chapter v i new months in advance and ended up ordering an imported copy because i couldn't wait for it to be released in the us.

but anyway, i was perusing the local record store and saw that they had a new album, so i bought it.

i was a little disappointed at first. i feel that the band started losing a little steam with chapter v, and lost even more with the new record. it's just a little boring, but that might be because of the overwhelming influx of similarly styled bands in the past couple of years.

however, after several listens it has started growing on me. i dont love it as much as i do glory to the brave, renegade, and crimson thunder, but it is a good album. there arent really any anthemic songs and nothing that i feel i have to play 7 times in a row or anything, but its a decent enough record.

Tangential observation: "Hammerfall" could easily be the name of an album by either Metallica or Yanni.
