    Default What's Your 'Anthem'.

What song inspires you more than any other, gets you in a good mood, or you simply feel addicted to.

For me, it's Pardon Me by Incubus. When I heard that song, Uncle Reality Check bitchslapped me in the face and my eyes were opened to a lot of things in the world. I listen to it every day.

    So. What's your Anthem.
♫ "I want to disturb my neighbor
    Cause I'm feeling so right
I want to turn up my disco
Blow them to full Watts tonight
    In a rub-a-dub style, in a rub-a-dub style"♫

It's hard to pick one; but I think Jeff Trott's Walk a Cloud would have to be pretty close.

I just like this song, it makes me feel good, and energizes me.

#1 is and will always be Change by Blind Melon:

I dont feel the suns comin out today
Its staying in, its gonna find another way.
As I sit here in this misery, I dont
Think Ill ever see the sun from here.
And oh as I fade away,
Theyll all look at me and say, and theyll say,
Hey look at him! Ill never live that way.
    But thats okay
    Theyre just afraid to change.
When you feel your life aint worth living
Youve got to stand up and
Take a look around you then a look way up to the sky.
And when your deepest thoughts are broken,
Keep on dreaming boy, cause when you stop dreamin its time to die.
And as we all play parts of tomorrow,
Some ways will work and other ways well play.
But I know we all cant stay here forever,
So I want to write my words on the face of today.
    And then theyll paint it
And oh as I fade away,
Theyll all look at me and theyll say,
Hey look at him and where he is these days.
When life is hard, you have to change.

My #1 song of all time is the legendary Metallica's MASTER OF PUPPETS.

    Come crawling faster!
    Obey your Master!
    Your life burns faster!
    Obey your MASTER!

    MASTER!

Master Of Puppets I'm pulling your strings
Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams
Blinded by me you can't see a thing
Just call my name and I'll hear you scream

    MASTER!
    MASTER!

Just call my name and I'll hear you scream

    MASTER!
    MASTER!
... The Master Of Puppets has spoken.

Goodbye León (november 16th, 1993 - june 12th, 2009). You were, are and always will be the best friend I ever had. I will always love you and never forget you. And please, please forgive me.

Thank you for teaching me about love, patience and caring. Rest in Peace, my friend. I hope that wherever it is you are now, you can run and play as much as you want.

I really can't pick one. I like the Bellamy Brothers' "Old Hippie" pts. 1 and 2. I like "Stairway to Heaven." I love Ennio Morricone's soundtrack to the Man With No Name trilogy. I love Hendrix's version of "The Star Spangled Banner." Johnny Cash's "Don't Take Your Guns to Town" whips me and so does ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man." Kyuss's "Demon Cleaner" and Queens of the Stone Age's "Someone's In The Wolf" are pretty creepy. There is no one song for me. That's why I keep buying music. Oh, yeah, and Iced Earth's "Gettysburg (1863)" is frakking epic.

IT'S MY JOBBy Mac McAnally; sung by Jimmy Buffet

In the middle of late last night I was sittin' on a curb
I didn't know what about but I was feeling quite disturbed
A street sweeper came whistlin' by
    He was bouncin' every step
It seemed strange how good he felt
So I asked him while he swept

    Chorus
He said "It's my job to be cleaning up this mess
And that's enough reason to go for me
It's my job to be better than the rest
And that makes the day for me"

Got an uncle who owns a bank he's a self made millionaire
He never had anyone to love never had no one to care
He always to seemed kind of sad to me
So I asked him why that was
And he told me it's because in my contract there's a clause
That says "It's my job to worried half to death
And that's the thing people respect in me
It's a job but without it I'd be less
Than what I expect from me"

I've been lazy most all of my life
    Writing songs and sleeping late
Any manual labor I've done purely by mistake
If street sweepers can smile then
I've got no right to feel upset
    But sometimes I still forget
Till the lights go on and the stage is set
And the song hits home and you feel that sweat

It's my job to be different than the rest
and that's enough reason to go for me
It's my job to be better than the best
and that's a tough break for me
It's my job to be cleaning up this mess
and that's enough reason to go for me

It's my job to be better than the best
and that makes the day for me

Probably "Addicted to Chaos" by Megadeth. Enough so that I got the title tattooed on myself.

Four of them, not surprisingly, are early Beatles tunes: "Twist and Shout," "I Saw Her Standing There," "She Loves You," "I Want To Hold Your Hand."

The fifth is an equally popular song, but by a band far less illustrious than the Beatles: the Romantics' "What I Like About You."

Since I'm neither a wrestler nor a professional athlete, I don't feel the need to have an anthem.

    ...

Fine. "I Got Rhythm" by George and Ira Gershwin, as sung by anyone, really, but especially proto-doowop group the 5 Spirits of Ryhthm.

Dude who are you kidding. We all know your anthem is "Eye of the Tiger." Don't deny it Bogart.

My Life by Billy Joel. All my life I've had people either making fun of the choices I've made or trying to tell me what I should be doing. The song reflects my wish that people would just stop trying to dictate to me what I should be doing and just let me do what I want to do.

HA HA HA! What a lame anthem! Billy Joel!

Get something with a guitar in it!

By the way, that was a joke.
