Default Andy Taylor ankles Duran Duran - AGAIN!

    "To Our Fans

We know that there has been a tremendous amount of speculation over the past few weeks regarding Andy Taylor's continued involvement with the band and we are sorry that we've been unable to provide you with more information until now. The past five years have been an incredible journey for us all - and having the original five back together was something that we had wanted to see happen for some time. As of last weekend, however, the four of us have dissolved our partnership and will be continuing as Duran Duran without Andy, as we have reached a point in our relationship with him where there is an unworkable gulf between us and we can no longer effectively function together. Although obviously disappointed and saddened about this, we are excited about the next chapter of the Duran Duran story and look forward to seeing you all soon. ~
    Simon, John, Nick and Roger"

I never doubted that the four remaining members would once again perform, and even record together as Duran Duran; but I was astounded that Andy Taylor was asked back at all. I can't say I'm broken up, or even surprised by his re-departure. All I can really say, is:

SOMEONE CALL WARREN CUCCARULLO, REAL DAMN FAST!

It was fun while it lasted. But, I was expecting this sooner or later. Rarely does any band reform with the original members and actually stay together. I stuck with Duran Duran even through Pop Trash, when it was just three of them. I've never been thoroughly disappointed by a Duran Duran album, so I'm still a fan. I'll still be waiting for new material.

If you've not bought Astronaught, I recommend it. There are some great songs, beyond the singles (which I enjoyed), including Nice, and Still Breathing, both of which should have been singles!

Yes, Astronaught. I forgot about it, and that's because I even saw them on tour for that album, and it was Andy Taylor's birthday that night. It was the loudes rendition of Happy Birthday I've ever heard or been a part of.

When did "ankles" become a verb?

It's a favorite of "Variety" magazine.
    For-Real-True is only true now.

    Story-True is true forever.

I was going for a Variety-style headline, when I wrote the initial post. The term comes from "The last thing they saw, was his ankle as it walked out the door." There's a whole list of odd Variety words/terms, like "Sked" for schedule, "Skein" for series, ""Ep" for episode, and I can't remember exactly what it means at the moment; but "Prexy" shows up a great deal.

Weirdness. I can understand sked and ep, but "skein"? Where's the k come from?

I think the use of "Skein" comes from "a skein of yarn." If a story is a yarn, then a series of stories is a skein.

Okay, that's a lot more interesting than I thought it would be.
