    Default Avengers Matchmatcher Thread

Since many writers like to turn are comics into soap opera's and make new relationships all the time. I thought we at CBR should beat them to the punch. I will start with a making a new couple and that you can give your appoval or disappoval of the relationship. Please state the reason's why you appove or disappove.

The first couple: Wasp and Thor.

Janet has dated or had a relationship with almost all the founders except Thor.(she was married to Henry, dated Tony Stark, and has a relationship with Cap in Ulimates) So if the writer tryed to pair up Wasp and Thor. How would you feel?

Do you think he could fit "Mjolnir" in a girl that small?

Yes. She was married to Hank "Giant-Man" Pym for years.

    Hawkeye + Spider Woman

Spider Woman: "In a world full of lies and deception, Clint is honest, loyal, and genuine."

but he always shrank to fit. anyways, Jan wouldn't have the patience for Thor or vice versa. she needs someone young and vibrant who will look good in photo-ops. i would go with Kyle Richmond. he gets stronger at night. that's gotta be a plus for the women, right?

I wouldn't call Kyle "young," although I suppose he certainly is when compared to Thor. Kyle's from her social class as well, whis can't hurt.

Kyle: My strength, vigor, and stamina all become super-human after dark.

    Jan: Really...

Jan had a major crush on Thor in the early Avengers issues, before she got married to Hank. I suspect that he was inspired to acquire the growth power because Jan was a size-queen. Or maybe he was just insecure after hearing her flirt with Thor so much.

Regarding Kyle, his wealth would be a big plus for some women, but Jan is already wealthy.

i was thinking of it from the standpoint that they'd both be independent because of their respective fortunes. that's one hurdle out of the way. they probably had similar upbringings and are used to the country club (not to mention costumed superhero) life. i just think that Jan's too active to hang with a regular guy; even a rich one. and i'd still like for she and Hank to remain close friends/partners. he could be her 'big brother' figure.

wasn't she flirting with Thor specifically to get a reaction out of Hank (who was busy looking at test tubes)?

i'm just going by him being a college student in his origin story. i guess i just assumed that he was in his 20s; marvel time. oh well. as long as he's near Jan in age.

As I recall, Kyle IS supposed to be rather young. Not teenager young, but probably pretty close to Wasp's age.

Correct. Jan would flirt with Thor (and Iron Man, and Cap) to try and make Hank jealous. I'm sure Jan did find all of them legitimately attractive...but it wasn't like she was planning on actually trying to seduce them.

    Okay, some other couple possibilities....

Tigra/USAgent: the repressed Agent would probably benefit from a wild fling with Tigra, who may be able to loosen him up a bit (or at least hopefully make him a bit less of a grouch by getting him laid). As for Tigra, I can't see her sticking with him long-term, but there should be enough physical attraction there to justify a fling (she has flirted with him in the past).

Living Lightning/Starfox: who knows what those two got up to during the months Miguel was stationed at the asteroid base? Although Eros is primarily interested in the ladies, I'd suspect the Avengers resident Eternal hedonist is probably pansexual. Perhaps it was Eros that made Miguel finally realize his attraction to men.

Justice/Hellcat: now that he and Firestar have split up, Vance needs a rebound relationship, and Patsy could use a bit of romance in her life since everything she's been through with her demonic husband, her suicide, and her return from the dead.

I think that must have been the appeal...think about it...

Default For Tigra I'd pick the bald NYPD cop

I'm a big Tigra fan, and if I got to pick a romantic interest for her, it'd be the bald cop (I forgot his name) that she first thought was crooked in her miniseries written by Christina Z and drawn by Mike Deodato about 4 years ago. For most of the series, Tigra thought the bald cop was crooked, but at the end found out he was honest but that he had thought SHE was crooked! Tigra's first husband was a cop, so it'd make sense she'd get interested in another cop, plus since Tigra's a cop now, her being involved with another one could lead to some interesting story ideas if he'd be the 1 guy on the NYPD who knew what Greer Nelson really was.

In my opinion it would be horrible, but there would be some merits. Janet would help modernize Thor. It would break the on/off relationship with Pym. Which is a plus for some fans, but I am a bit old fashion and Prefer her to stay with Henry.

Nexted Up...Tony Stark and Scarlet Witch. Yay or Nay.

I haven't actually read it, but there's been some strong hints that the Janet/Hank relationship is in fact undergoing some degree of "resolution" in the "Beyond!" series.

Or at least some of those covers are looking like Hank's ready to put the mack on Firebird even when Jan's right there (figuratively speaking).

I'd wager they're going back to "Oh we're just best friends" again. :p

Tony and Wanda? That's uhm...kinda scary at this point. ;)

Tony: "Hey Wanda, why don't you fix the world so that Cap never went against the Registration and all my plans came to fruition?"

    Wanda: "No more Secret Avengers!"

    ;)

But we all know in his current state Tony would be more likely to heavily sedate her and lock her in the deepest, darkest, most secure portion of the Negative Zone prison.

    And probably clone her.

At first I didn't like the idea. Now I am neutral because the more I think about it the more interesting the couple would be. Even if it is a unusual one.

If I was given a writing assignment to make Iron Man and Scarlet Witch a couple. I would use it to why Wanda's insanity hurt him so much. Which could help explain why he ended the Avengers and has been acting out of character lately.
