Unless it was retconned, Masque can't alter his appearance. He is immune to his power. Also, Masque, before his death, was grosteque. Female Masque wasn't. There is no way Storm could have reconize female Masque as being male Masque unless Storm had known about the sex change.

Unless there's something recent, that's not correct. Nothing at all was said in the (...questionable...) issues as to why Masque was suddenly a blonde woman. Claremont later said online that he/she/whatever was wearing a full body-suit. Yep.
