Default The (insert poster name) Voter Guide.

Absentee ballots are going out today and that means alot of political mailings. I got no less than eleven of the damn things today, and I've already decided how I'm going to vote on most races.

So, since everyone is trying to convince us to vote a certain way, let's all toss it back. Every one of us must have at least a small group of CBR folks who live in your area....

So without arguments or debate, who do you endorse for office this year? Who are you voting for and who should we vote for?

Well as of right now I am only half informed on most of the issue in my state.(my definititon of half informed anyways) I will only cover the majors.

    Governor- Jennifer Grandholm
    Congress- Mike Huckleberry.
    - Bart Stupack
( I live in one distict and my residents is in the other. So I can only vote for Stupack, but I strongly want Huckleberry to win.)

On the state reps. I don't have any Cbr's posters living near me to sway.(of course with my rep here. I probably would hurt my candiates more than help them)

On the Senate I would probably vote for a third party candiate. Because of right now. I dislike Debbie Stabnow as a person and with some of her politics. Her republican opponent is running a good campiagn, but I disagree with most of his politics. Leaving me with 2 person that I don't want to vote for. More than likely I will vote for a independant on this position.
I'm not liberal, liberals have beliefs. I'm a democrat, the only belief I have is that republicans are wrong.

    Here in Georgia...

U.S. Senate: Allan Burns, all the way. Not only is he running against a psychotic plutocrat (the infamous Fair-Tax John Linder), but his positions are spot-on for every issue. My only regret is that he's not running for President.

Governor: Mark Taylor. This is an "against" vote, unfortunately. Taylor's not great, but there's no Green candidate and the incumbent Sonny Perdue is evil personified.

Lt. Gov: Jim Martin. A non-incumbent, non-Republican with a good focus on education and healthcare.

GA Sec. of State: Gail Buckner: Her opponent, Karen Handel, inexplicably found it necessary to declare how much she hates gay adoption and abortion on her web site... obvious pandering to the neanderthal crowd.

Insurance Commissioner: Guy Drexinger. We've had incumbent John Oxendine for a loooong time, and his loyalties are well known. It's time for a change.

Yeah, but they're not all running this year and I'm sure you don't have 7 Congressmen. Which is your Congressman?

California has a lot of Propositions but here we go:

Governor: Steve Westly (D) write in
    Lt. Gov.: Tom McClintock (R)
    Sec. State: Bruce MacPherson (R)
    A.G.: Jerry Brown (D)

    US Senate: Dianne Feinstein (D)
    US Rep: Anna Eshoo (D)

Proposition 1A (Legislative Constitutional Amendment) YES
Transportation Funding Protection. Legislative Constitutional Amendment.

Proposition 1B (Legislative Bond Act) NO
Highway Safety, Traffic Reduction, Air Quality, and Port Security Bond Act of 2006
more debt and far too broad on interests in this one

Proposition 1C (Legislative Bond Act) NO
Housing and Emergency Shelter Trust Fund Act of 2006.
    more debt

Proposition 1D (Legislative Bond Act) NO
Kindergarten - University Public Education Facilities Bond Act of 2006.
every year we have a bond issue to raise funding for school maintenance and establishment, meanwhile school districts such as my own continue to close newer schools in favor of the older buildings and declining enrollments

Proposition 1E (Legislative Bond Act) NO
Disaster Preparedness and Flood Prevention Bond Act of 2006.
more debt and is very regional. Counties should bear the costs of flood recovery if they have allowed construction on known flood plains and if they have deferred maintenance on levies and earthern dams.

    Proposition 83 (Initiative Statute) NO
Sex Offenders. Sexually Violent Predators. Punishment, Residence Restrictions and Monitoring.
does not allow sex offenders to reside within 2000 feet of schools or parks. This pushes sex offenders out of the cities and suburbs and into rural areas that don't have the ability to monitor such offenders

Proposition 84 (Bonds. Initiative Statute.) NO
Water Quality, Safety and Supply. Flood Control. Natural Resource Protection. Park Improvements.
see Prop. 1E. Does not use funds for new water storage systems. Having worked for the State parks for 10 years I can honestly say they don't need more money, they need better management.

Proposition 85 (Initiative Constitutional Amendment) NO
Waiting Period and Parental Notification Before Termination of Minor's Pregnancy. Initiative Constitutional Amendment.

Proposition 86 (Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute) NO
    Tax on Cigarettes.
40% of the funds raised go to operational hospital costs, 10% actually goes to smoking cessation programs, the other 50% is discretionary to programs that encourage kids to not smoke and advertising against smoking. Law enforcement believes smuggling and theft of cigs will go up.

Proposition 87 (Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute) NO
Alternative Energy. Research, Production, Incentives. Tax on California Oil Producers. Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute.
sounds good but there are no guarantees that any new technology will be developed, creates a new State bureaucracy, reduces in State oil production thus leading to a greater reliance on foriegn oil.

Proposition 88 (Initiative Constitutional Amendment and Statute.) NO
Education Funding. Real Property Parcel Tax.
it's a permanent tax that is on top of local school taxes, no guarantee that the money raised in one district would come back to that district, not all the funds raised would go to schools a healthy portion would go to the State's General Fund.

Proposition 89 (Initiative Statute) : No
Political Campaigns. Public Financing. Corporate Tax Increase. Campaign Contribution and Expenditure Limits.

Proposition 90 (Initiative Constitutional Amendment) YES
Government Acquisition, Regulation of Private Property. Initiative Constitutional Amendment.
it's not terrifically well-written but it does protect property owners

What have I always believed? That, on the whole, and by and large, if a person lived properly, not according to what any priests said, but according to what seemed decent and honest inside, then it would, at the end, more or less, turn out ok.

Yes, our Greg Hatcher. Right-wing Norm Meleng is running totally unopposed and I'm asking all CBRers to write-in CBR's own TV/Film Board Mod in that race.

The Kurt Mitchell I'm writing in for Supreme Court, Pos. 8 is our own Cei-U!

None of the candidates in Florida thrill me, though I'm certain I'll be voting Bill Nelson (D) for Senate because there's no way I'm voting for Katherine Harris (R). None of the independent candidates really move me, so it's between Charlie Crist (R) and Jim Davis (D). I'm leaning towards Crist because he actually seems to have more details to his plans for the state, while Davis just keeps spouting catch-lines and tries to run off of some former Senator's endorsement. Aside from Charles Bronson (R) as Commisioner of Agriculture and Jackie Pons (D) as Superintendent of Schools, I'll probably just flip a coin for the other people running.

There's a mess of amendments up as well, though the only one I can't stand is the sales tax hike for health care coverage. I already pay for my own health care plan out of pocket and wouldn't qualify for the coverage, and I'm against paying for someone else's health care if mine isn't covered as well. It's a bad system that shouldn't even be on the ballot.

Ok I have looked up the ballot proposials and now I am able to give my opinion on them. Here is the site if anyone from Michigan want to read up to.

    http://www.crcmich.org/election/index.html

Proposal 2006-1 Constitutional Protection of DNR Funds.
I like that they are basically just trying to make an existing statue a amendment to the state Constitution, but the funds need to be adjustable with the status of the "hunting and fishing Industry" in my opinion. I see to many DNR officers as of right now with to much time on their hands. If the money is "forced" to be the same at all times and can't be spend in other areas that may need it. I see many problems developing because of this. If the amendment allowed for a state government to make a ballot proposal to ask the voter to allow them to tranfer the money to areas that need it. I would vote yes, but how it stands now. I vote No.

Proposal 2006-2- Michigan Civil Right Initative.
Even thou I greatly understand the reason behind affivative action. I don't think it is necessary anymore. Plus I do not think it is right. It is time that race, creed, gender, and ethnicity stop being a issue. If a affivative action was the reversed. It would be considered the most racist law currently in practice.

It has been several decades now that majority has view all people as equal.( I understand they still are racists out there) We have had at least 2 generations who have gotten the affivative action boost. To make up the what was done in the past and many of the people gaining and losing by this law. Weren't even alive when the wronging were being done. So I will be voting Yes on this one.

Proposal 2006-3 A Referendum on Dove Hunting.
I am not a hunter or a bird watcher. So I have no inside opinion on this. What I do know is that hunter help fuel the economy. Namely in the area I live. So that would be a plus. Also given that 41 other states have already adopted this. I see no major problem acurring with this. The bird watchers claim that they won't see the dove's anymore. I don't believe this since deer hunting is most common and we still have plenty of deer watcher out there.
So I will be voting Yes on this one.

    Proposal 2006-4 Eminent Domain
I never had been big on the property owner side of things. I feel the good of the communtiy should be always take presidence, but this is a very reasonable amendment and it is asking for oversight and reasonable compinsation. So don't see much of a problem with it. I will be voting Yes on this one.

Proposal 2006- 5 Educational Funding Guarantee Law.
I like the idea of Guarantee funding for are schools. I love reducing the gap between what one student gets verse another.( unless this means that the money becomes more of a local issue. Which means the rich district will have even greater schools and the poor districts will get even shitter schools. If it means that then I definitly will be voting no.) A another problem I have with this amendant is the schools are allowed to use a three year average. Which means that manly students will get double counted if they moved to a new district, but it would just mean more money for education. Which there could alot worse things the money could go to. I still need to learn more about this and the few problems I have with this to be solid on this one. But more than likely I will vote yes.
I'm not liberal, liberals have beliefs. I'm a democrat, the only belief I have is that republicans are wrong.
