Tim Sale is looking for help with extra material, so if anyone has anything from TLH era, let himknow. The more the better.

The story hasn't held up, but Sale's art is going to be freaking gorgeous in that format.
I might get it at some point.

I'm loving these Absolute collections, even if my wallet isn't. Oof!
good i have not been able to get the older HC of this story, they want to much money for the books.
Should be good. I hope Tim finds some material to use for the extras. I have come to enjoy the extras. Can't say an Absolute edition is as interesting without the extras.
In my opinion, the Long Halloween is probably second only to DKR as the greatest Batman limited series of all time. Loeb and Sale work so well together, and Sale's art is so perfect for a Batman book that I really can't imagine anyone else doing it. When I see a Batman story in my head, I imagine Tim Sale's art. His crime-noir, Humphrey Bogart feel to everything makes the character for me. I have had to buy 3 copies of the trade, because I have destroyed my first two from overuse, or from lending them out. I cannot wait for this!
Now this is an Absolute I think I am quite interested in. This and New Frontier. Though maybe I shoulda picked up the Planetary one. The Kingdom Come one was tempting too. Though Long Halloween was the one I was waiting for. New Frontier being put in this format was actually a surprise I'm very glad to get.

Yeah... I can't say no to this. Tim Sale's art is beautiful. Story was OK. GL could be a great writer, if he'd stop with the whole "kitchen sink" approach to writing. But its worth it for the art alone... SOLD!
Long Halloween is one of the best Batman stories ive ever heard, and of what i have read i consider it the best. Cant wait for the absolute, cuz i will be getting it.
Biru-no tanima-no kurayami-ni, Supaida-man!
Havok was right.
Why do you way that?Originally Posted by Expletive Deleted

Like I said before, the main thing that stands out about this story is that it has all of the classic aspects of a 1930s styled detective story, and the art fits it perfectly. It reminds me of Spencer Tracy novels, and movies with Humphrey Bogart. In my opinion, this is the definitive take on Batman. The character is an obvious extension of characters like Zorro and Sherlock Holmes. This story is told in that vein, and that is why it stands the test of time. It isn't locked in one time period like the Dark Knight Returns. It is a timeless Batman story, because Batman is a timeless character.
"Listen, not a year goes by, not a year, that I don't hear about some escalator accident involving some bastard kid which could have easily been avoided had some parent - I don't care which one - but some parent conditioned him to FEAR and RESPECT that Escalator!"
I think it holds up just fine.
I think Year One is the single best Batman story. Ever. Anybook that wants to follow in that vibe is ok with me. Loeb isn'y me favorite, but this was one of the good ones.
Superman for all Seasons and Daredevil Yellow are both fantastic too!
