Default Ultimate Fantastic Four #35 (Spoilers)

This issue wasn't too bad. I was a little confused with all the different alien characters, but after I went back and looked it all over it made sense. Ultimate Thanos makes his Ult. appearence in this book. He's looking pretty cool. I continue to like the Gallowglass character. Ultimate Ronan also makes his appearence in this one. The art was very good, I like how Pasqual Ferry is doing on UFF, and Mike Carey continues to make "God War" an interesting story. Count me in for the next issue.

    I Give It: 7.5/10

Just read the issue and it frickin owned. Good old fashion FF action with in the cosmo's. So far I'm liking Mike Carey's run and I'm beginning to think it's way better than Mark Millar's run and at least the artist is'nt a tracer. Hell it looks nice on the FF.

One hell of a power Sue got from the seed to explode the leviothon though. Can't wait for the next issue.

Oh ya Ult thanos in ultimized form looks sweet!!!!!!

My only complaint is Thanos's look. Not having the black eyes, just made it not really click with me. Plus his costume makes him look a bit too much like Ravenous from the Annihilation series.

That small bit aside, the book is simply AMAZING. This is a phenominal cosmic space adventure. I would even say that contends for one of the best Ultimate stories so far.

This is great, great stuff. It's pretty rare these days to see such imaginitive worldbuilding in a work-for-hire book. I hope Carey plans on a decent run on this book, his take on it is hugely refreshing.

Exellent book, might very well be the best ultimate stuff to date.
Mick Carey channels ultimate Kirby in this arc, delivering the strongest sf world in a long time.

That Ferry/Rauch/ combo makes for very very pretty art, too.

I enjoyed the issue overall. There were parts where I was a bit confused, but after reading it a couple of times it made more sense. You really do get a feeling that we're viewing an alien universe that has some great depth and history behind it. Ultimate Thanos seems to have created his own religion centered around him. He's very god-like, but obviously not in a good way.

The Dreamcatcher character has a very unique power. She could be (and already has been) used in some very inventive ways. I find her to be the most interesting of the Seed characters by far.

The art is just wonderful. I'm loving Ferry's work so far. I'll definately be picking up the rest of this story arc.

carey and ferry have won me over...
i still don't think anyone can top the land/millar run on this title, but these guys are clicking...

UFF is easily one of marvel's gems nowadays, and ultimately, when the ultimate universe ends, i hope somehow they can bring this sort of excitement to the 616 FF title...
for some reason, it's not even close and that's a shame, the last year and a half or so has shown that these characters, when portrayed in the right way, can actually rock...

I absolutely agree with all the praise here. I'm already intrigued by ultimate Thanos. I get the feeling Ronan will play the role of MU Thanos here, betraying his father, and destroying his world, but as one of the good guys.

Although, I imagine some new gods freaks won't be too happy to see Thanos as DarkSeid's dad. :D ;)

that part actually reminded me of 616 apocalypse. so if this is ronan the accuser, are his people the ultimate kree or ultimate eternals. bit confuesed, because of the kree have already appeared in ultimate secret.

is this a new space society with no 616 counterpart?

That's a good point about Ronan and the Kree in the Ultimate universe. There does need to be a good bit of cleaning house when it comes to the Ultimate cosmos. I'm curious why exactly he choose to place Ronan here as being a part of the Kree is a big part of his character, his personality doesn't seem to be in line with the 616 either.

Also Thanos was his "father." Which is a curious twist to the character.

My hope (thinking about it) is that Ronan is covert ala Captain Marvel for the Kree and is investigating Thanos. For some reason though I doubt that will actually be the case.

Oh and are the shape changers from Ultimates 2, the same as the Skrulls? (kinda off topic).

I actually like the idea of placing ultimizations in places where you least expect it. I think it's pretty cool that Carey's coming up with a completely new race instead of ultimizing a previously existing one from the MU.

I don't mind the unexpected nature of it, but I hope the placement is for a reason bigger than name recognition.

Overall I'm liking it - but the sheer number of new characters (and lack of time to develop them) often leaves me confused. I don't know if it's a real good story if I have to reread things a few times to get it.

UFF is still one of my favorite books. This arc is just kinda middle of the road to me though.
